Cutting the top of my XJ

Tunes, now your jeep trail ready. ( Wish mine was.)

If you still need to borrow those tube doors just come on by any time My jeep isn't going anywhere for a while yet so I won't even miss them for another month or so.

Thanks. I would love to borrow them to copy some ideas when I build mine. Hope to have them done before King of the Hammers so I might swing by next week and borrow them if you don't mind.

OK slight change of plans...hooked up the 4 channel Eclipse amp and the internal x-over was toaste...tried the 2 channel PPI and it only wanted to work as a sub amp, highs were totally distorted :( oh well they served a tough life:angel:

So ended up buying a new 4 channel Alpine that matches up well with the Mono Alpine sub amp I already had. Bridged it down to 2 channel and it puts out a decent amount of power to the tower speakers. Overall I'm really happy with the sound quality....not as stealth as I like but oh well the rest of the Jeep isn't really "stealth" either.

Sub and amps mounted....I didn't spend much time on the looks because the back seat totally hides them all.

Welded 1/4" thick tabs to the cage with gussets for the speaker mounts.

Went iPod direct to the amps through a small volume knob mounted on the center console. iPod goes on the center console out of harms way. Also wired a lighted toggle switch to turn the amps on and off.

Ok thats it for now. Next is the intercom and race radio install but I think I need to build a new center console to get that to fit so it may be a few weeks.

Looks really good Chris..... blows that the amps crossover are not working, but I will admit, those amps were in the Jeep for 2.5 years on my end alone.... so wouldnt doubt for a bit they have quite a bit of dust in em!!

Ok, so I am sold on doing a glass enclosure in the Bronco, so we will chat at KOH and go from there!

Yeah they served a tough life and I had a feeling they were dying when I took them out. I blew them out with some canned air and half of the mojave desert came out :)

Sounds good for KOH, we'll have the real stereo expert there that weekend with us so he can set us up right.

Hey Chris, thanks again for the cover. Good to meet you, too. I'll be watching the progress of this build..very nice.

BTW, what do you call that awesome RV in your driveway? I've never seen anything like that...Is that custom build? very cool.

No problem and great meeting you too. Glad to hear you guys made it home...it started pouring right after you left.

The motorhome is Jayco Seneca HD. They call it a Super C as in class C but on the heavy duty chasis. It has the Duramx Diesel and a legal 8,000lb towing capacity. All of the Class A's only have 5,000lb tow capacity and we couldn't afford the Diesel Pusher. We've had it about 3 years now and really like it...although it doesn't ride as nice as the Class A's.

Thanks again

Cool thanks for the info. We're probably gonna be in the market soon.

Oh, and yeah it dumped on us all the way back to san diego. not too bad, though. Everyone seemed to be leaving enough room between cars. Didn't have a single slowdown due to a pileup, the whole way.

I'll try and post up some pics of the show @ Los Osos H.S. Kids did a great job.
