Cutting Military Pay

If you guys don't agree with the article please contact your representatives and senators and let them know please. I know there are people without jobs that can't make their payments on bills, but I don't want to work for free. I don't know how I'll pay for fuel to get to work if I don't get paid so I could use your guys help. Thanks for reading it...

And this isn't just the Air Force, it is military wide, that means the Marines, Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force don't get paid...even those in active war zones.

This is an Obama ploy. Normally during shutdowns, military got paid in the past. Either way they will get paid when things settle down. If banks wanted to make a lot of friends/customers, they would offer short term loans for military personnel.

Either way I don't remember the oath we took including only doing our duty only if we are getting paid. So write letters or whatever, but in the end just deal with it.

I agree that I don't do it for the pay, but I do live in a house that requires me to make a payment. So unless they choose to move everyone into base housing it is going to be impossible to pay my mortgage. I understand we will receive back pay which would be nice and all if it didn't make me late on my bills.

I agree, this hope and change isnt working out well but Im not happy with either party much. Set Republican and Democrates aside and just from my point of view I say soldiers need more pay. They endure a lot and deserve a lot. I guess you can argue that getting training and a place to live is like part of your pay but I cant express what people in uniform mean to me. Its a shame how much waste goes on and who makes money in this world but I guess thats life and you just learn to roll with it. Anyway, not sure where my comment was going but to everyone on who serves you guys rock!

I agree completely. I have both family and friends serving. In my opinion there is no way to place a value great enough for anyone willing to place their life in harms way to protect the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted daily.

If you're active duty military and SHTF so now the gov't is shut down and you are no longer receiving pay, that's your only money. Yes I am active duty Air Force. I'm not just saying shut up and take it, and they really do need to pass a budget. Just saying if this does happen don't refuse to work or cause problems because of it, just keep doing your job and it will be fixed in a few weeks.

If you don't have enough money saved up to last a couple weeks go talk to the Airman and Family Readiness Center (or whatever equivalent in the other services), the Air Force Aid Society should be able to help you out.

And I'm not a bit surprised the federal government is acting just as dumb as California, just look at the quality of some of these people we've elected

When I was in and going on a 110 day patrol they paid us ahead of time for the entire patrol, usually 7 or 8 checks all at once. They are not going to default on military pay.

That was back in the days before direct deposit, I remember seeing the Army do a pay day down at Ft Gordon Ga when I was going through another crypto repair school, helicopter gunships flying all over, quarter tons and M113's with loaded M60's and .50 cals, all surrounding the gym, payday, cash or check, 50,000 people getting paid.
Now I get my stuff direct deposited to the navy credit union.
