... buy it then if you think half price is a good deal on a 5 year old winch thats has been out in the weather for 5 possiblle years, thats had 5 years of plugging and unplugging to the remote... theres alot of wear and tear thats been done in the last 5 years, not everyone is going to take care of their stuff... thats all im saying, i know personally i wouldnt buy it and i dont think that its a good deal, its my opinion not yours so find someone else to post your pointless comments to.

Y'know assuming that the winch is in good shape (frankly they are tough and most are in good shape) that is a pretty decent deal. The Smittybilt XRC8 has tended to change people's opinions, but that is a 9500 lb winch not an 8000.

now.. from what i understand, a winch needs 400+ amps of current to pull 8000lbs consistantly right? so given the chance if your running a stock alt your batt wont handle that kind of load for very long... so it wont matter if u have a 8000 lb winch or 9500 if you dont have the proper charging system...

Yup the bay area weather is a killer.... mild temperatures, never really to hot or cold, some rain.... not really "in the weather" IMO.

Plus chances are the winch was not used very often, they often don't get a ton of use in most cases. I would say it not a bad deal especially if you could talk the parson down closer to $200. I would buy it.

Not sure what someone's lack of a decent battery and charging system has to do with the value of the winch. I have always run a 9500 (Warn) with a stock 80-100 amp alternator and an Optima with no problems. Granted the battery can be run dead, but the initial pull is what generally what gets you unstuck... after that the winch is usually assisting the truck. A 9500 pulls harder than an 8000... that's the reason for the designations.

i plan on getting the 8000-8500lb warn winch when i buy a winch bumper off my buddy, he runs a warn, it was built around that winch so ill know it will fit when i get one, believe me i know the value of a winch, ive been winched over some rough spots a few times... i just would like my winch to run strong the whole time i need it... thats all im getting at with a charging system comment
