Countdown to Moab!

Seek out S-10 Blazers!

The only part that is worth anything on them is the cargo hook in the center of the cargo area (yes, only one) held in with either a #4 phillips screw or a big TORX (like T-65 or so?). The full size blazer of the 90's has four in the cargo area but they're harder to find.

These are strong hooks that fold away when not used. I have them in all my Jeeps and have turned many onto the idea of them.

Yes... including me! Here's what they look like painted, installed and in action.

What year Blazers? There are a few in the local yards...

All years. If it is an S-10 Blazer, there's one of those heavy duty tie downs smack in the middle of the cargo area.

I still haven't figured out the placement. Somebody at GM was smoking some good crack when they though "We'll just have them tie their load down here and loop it back to here!" It'd almost make sense if it were a tie down for a spare tire!

The early 90's body style Blazers (Don't know years, I'm not a GM guy) had four in the cargo area (much better thinking!) but as I mentioned it's less common to see those while S-10 Blazers are a dime a dozen in yards here.

I'm starting to think the SYE won't happen... especially since the rear needs to be shimmed and a driveshaft will need to be built.

Considering I've had the stock driveline working fine since I lifted the thing should I be concerned?

If you have no vibes I'd run it, I ran a stock driveline on 3" and 31's for a LONG time. Also considering you have an 8.8 (longer pinion than a 35, possibly longer than an 8.25, not sure there) that gives you some wiggle room.

Cool. I figured it wasnt a problem. I want to SYE it for peace of mind, but considering what a new d/s costs i'd rather save it for a few months.

I'll be there. I'm staying at Slickrock Campground. I do have a few things to do to the Blue Pearl.

-Skidplates for Gas Tank and Transfer Case
-Locker for front (HP D30) if anyone has a used locker I'm interested!
-Buy fire extinguisher
-Cargo net for rear
-Upgrade Tie Rod with V8 ZJ one.
-Possibly put in YJ output shaft on transfer case to clear up driveline vibes

The wife is rolling out there with me and we're both pretty stoked about Moab:yelclap:- I have been talking about wheeling out there since we were dating (roughly 6 years ago!)

Late,
Coullt

Do an aussie or lockright. Aren't you around San Diego?

I ran 5" of lift and 32's, Dana 35, for ~5 years with no SYE.

Same lift and 33's for a couple years and an 8.8, NO SYE.

Now 35's, an 8.8 and still no SYE.

Pete will be there for a couple of days. So we will have some more media coverage.

I just picked up four of those tie down thingies. There were four S10 Blazers in a row at the junkyard, and I grabbed all four.

That really IS weird how there is only one tie down thing right in the middle of the floor. :D

Ok, Some trivia on this one. It's installed at the factory for the spare tire to be held down, and removed at PDI but everyone leaves them in. Isuzu did the same thing.

So the factory doesn't trust the regular spare tire hold down for transport I guess? Funny that it's so common for them to be left in, if I owned a Blazer the single point would bug me (along with many, many other GM-isms!) ;)
