Cordless Impact

damn, that sucks. I have been using the hell out of mine lately doing a lot of site work on heavy equipment, and it has yet to give me any problems.
Just to update on my prior post. Snap on did in fact repair the broken hammer under warranty even tho I was out of the time frame. Still holding strong almost 2 years after purchasing and I use it daily almost

Thought I'd revive this thread as I purchased a new cordless impact and can say that they perform above and beyond my expectations. I was a skeptic at first and thought the best you could get had to be a air-based tool but how wrong I was.

I ended purchasing the Milwaukee 2663-22 18-Volt M18 1/2-Inch High Torque Impact Wrench with Friction Ring from Amazon. This little baby was more than capable and a very good contender against any air tool out there. With this tool I was able to rip off the old suspension and install my RC 4.5" X-Series lift kit, pull off all my tires lug nuts, remove and replace all the nuts on transfer car twice without ever having to switch over to the second, included, battery.

Simply amazing! This tool has really changed my opinion of what the newer batteries are capable of. All you skeptics might want to have a second look.
They make a great product

475 ft-lbs for less than $350? Sounds like a great buy in my book. I might pick one up. I need a impact gun.

Matco has an 18V 1/2" cordless impact that makes the SnapOn gun look like a childs toy. Pricey, but probably picking one up soon.

I have yet to deal with a MATCO guy that would make me consider a product of theirs.

Id go milwaukee if i bought again
I love Milwaukee tools. My 1/2" 2-handed electric drill will put a drill bit through damn near anything, I know I have drilled through nails with a 7/8" augur bit before.

x100, I have a buddy that works on heavy equipment and he said his old matco cordless was stronger than the snap on he has now, but the snap on man takes way better care of him if he has a problem. the last time he had a warrranty job on his matco gun he sold it on craigslist as soon as he got it back.

I made the mistake after I saw mike's 1/2 inch snap on in action of buying a 3/8ths gun from crapco. It's the biggest hunk of shit I own and the crapco guy doesn't want it back. I promptly purchased a 3/8 and 1/2inch snap on guns and they are one of the best investments in my tool collection.....along with my power probe III

I would like to have an air impact, but then i need a compressor etc and garage space is limited etc.... Went with the 19.2v Craftsman like posted earlier, and am very happy with it! I cant break a lug nut, but it can do just about anything else! For 100 cant complain!

19.2v and can't break a lug nut WTF over

X2!!!

This is the kit I bought.

It doesn't come close to the power of the SnapOn, but for the price I couldn't say no. The two Lithium Ion batteries charge in less than 45 minutes and last a long time. They also have a battery charge light on them to check the power levels. It does well for anything on the Jeep, but if you can afford it go witht the SnapOn.

My dad has some of the Craftsman 19v stuff and IMO it's pretty junky. He's got a small cordless circular saw that can't cut anything--the motor doesn't have any torque and the blade seizes on the thinnest materials. The drill is alright but not a lot of torque on it either, and I have to use my corded drill for anything that takes more than a couple of minutes of constant duty.

On a FULLY charged battery my 14.4v SnapOn will struggle with lug nuts, but they'll come off. The 1/2" one will blast them on and off all day long. I even use an 80ft/lb toque stick on mine and they do indeed fully torque time after time.

My 18 volt Snap On rocks. The only time I use my air compressor now is for my nail guns, which has been a lot lately since I'm re-siding my garage. The Snap On was money well spent, IMHO.

I found a nitrogen bottle, regulator, hose and all the pieces for just over $100, stands less than 3ft tall will air up approx 20 tires before empty and last time I used it it wasn't "full" but I used it to remove my truck bed the gas tanks etc with an air impact and I was a solid 450+ ft lbs for the duration of the bottle. It's really to each their own, if I could afford an electric impact I'd prolly try one. But everytime I made a wheeling trip I know I'd forget to charge it lol or forget the charger if I ran out of juice :)
