Coppenger Cove Ride

Yep...preliminary forcast of 95 degrees with mostly sunny skies.

There are isolated thunderstorms supposed to hit on Thursday and Friday. Wonder what that will do for the trails???

rain shouldn't cause any trouble... it rained alot last thursday, and then about a 2hr storm friday... had me worried, but we had no trouble yesterday!
...now if it rains while we're out there, it could make the rocks slicker, and be a bit more adventureous :)

Ed, i talked to our friend David, and he said Harvo is planning to ride with us, as is David.

anybody going to be trailering their jeep? just curious, as it would help Tyler decide what route we should take, and where we will go in, and come out...

We will be sticking to the original plan of going in at the top. Larry will be towing, as well as Tim if he shows (he better if he knows whats good for him :explosion:angel:). Trailers will be able to park and unload at a grocery store at the top of the mountain, then we will drive about 3-4 miles to the entrance.

I will have to take it slow on the road my TJ does not like speed and turns with no sway bars. I should be able to do about 30mph without having to say to many hail marys prayers.
I am so ready to ride again!

What were the water levels like?

This is going to be a fun ride.

You guys take lots of pics, cause' Team Struggle will sit this one out.

Busted Ballistic joints, and no time that weekend. :rattle:

my jeep enjoys 90 MPH but it only enjoys it in one direction ;) straight

Can someone post up an address for the meeting spot? ("the gas station next to the big oak tree" doesnt help me much...) I need to feed it into to the GPS, and figure out how damn early I have to get up for this shindig.

Also, another XJ'er may be coming up with us, his name is Nathan and drives a gold colored XJ. Not sure of his screen name on here, but he says he cant post on here for some reason. He is a little worried of the legality of this place, as some other folks have mentioned its private land. I told him I was going to blame Tyler if we got in trouble.

:D

Tyler can verify but I believe it's the same place we met Mark and Ed last winter. This should get you there:
Quiznos Sub SandwichesAddress:
140 Rowland Dr
Jasper, TN 37347

There are some illegal spots, but they are clearly posted and we will not be going there. Seriously, would there be a church burried up in the woods that still holds services every Sunday morning and sells food and drinks on Friday and Saturday nights if folks weren't welcome?

The places we will be are 100% legal.

The exit is 155 of of I-24. TN highway 28 is the street. If you are coming from the Chattanooga/Atlanta area then the gas station will be on the left. It is the only one there. Coming from Nashville, it is on the right. We will be meeting there at 9:00 AM Eastern Time (8:00 AM Central time). Please try to be on time or early, because there is a lot of riding to do and we will need to be on a tight schedule. For Chattanooga residents, I will be stopping at the BP next to the Baskin Robbins on East Brainerd Rd. I should be arriving there at 8:15 AM, and will be pulling out of the gas station at 8:20 SHARP. Im just throwing that in there for anyone who wants to convoy to Jasper with me.

Ed... ill post some pics up of our prerun by tomorrow night...
The water wasn't bad at all... only if you go play around can you get into too deep water.

It appears that the exit and all the trails are in Central Time Zone...

Yes, that would be correct. That is why I specified both Eastern and Central meeting times. Lol, its not rocket science, 9:00AM Eastern = 8:00AM Central.
