What's been accomplished so far.

Ripped out the aftermarket alarm and power windows.

Installed Lock Right in the D30, and did a full fluid change at the same time.

That's all the progress I've made for now.

New Shoes and a few "go fast" stickers

Can't wait to mount this up Four 27 watt 60 degree flood lights for all around lighting and a 120 watt Spot/Flood combo light bar facing forward. Might have to reinforce the wind deflector the light bar is mounted too though. I'm going to have to work on the wiring after I get it on the Jeep.

23 lbs when the rack was empty. With all the lights mounted it pushes the weight up to 33 lbs, as weighed by a 50 lb fish scale.

Didn't fully plan out the sticker placement haha

I used a flat four trailer harness when I had my rack. It makes them removable should the need arise.

Hmm good idea. Did you go in though the hatch with your wiring?

I went through the roof and down the a pillar. This was on a wj. I would go through the factory rails and down the b pillar on a xj.

I drilled a big hole in the roof, above the B Pillar. Used a multi-wire weatherproof passthrough grommet. Once the wires are inside, it's easy to run them under the trim on the B pillar to under the back seat, which is where my relay / fuse panels are located.

I used the same color paint on my jeep a while back, it fades real fast and gets chalky. It was the Rustoleum Cammo paint. I suggest not using it unless you intend to repaint it every few months, or you garage it all the time.

There's a hole there for the factory rails?

No there is no hole. There is after you drill one in though. If I can drill a hole in a brand new WJ a XJ should be easy, lol.

New oil pan installed to replace the dented one. The dent was right where the oil pickup was and it had smashed the little oil pick up guard (area where you can't see mesh) a little bit. I straightened it back out. The tube wasn't damaged or bent everything else looked ok. Engine looked pretty clean and I didn't find anything crazy in the old oil pan. Went ahead and replaced the rear main while I was in there. Used a Fel-pro one piece oil pan gasket for the install. Only applied some aviation sealant to the corners left the rest dry.

Original engine had been replaced with a used one by the previous owner, who paid a junkyard that he got the engine from to do the swap. I'm guessing that this big dent was cause by someone using a hydraulic jack on the oil pan to get everything lined back up.

Oh yeah I pulled that panel and mounted my fire extinguisher. I wanted to mount it up front but I couldn't find a place that didn't interfere with the seat movement or my legs/feet when using the pedals.

i keep mine right on the floor on the side of the driver's seat. plenty of room, although maybe you have different seat rails than i do....

Did some cooling system work today. Here's what the waterpump looked like on the inside. Bearings sounded like they had rocks in them. Went ahead and replaced it, the thermostat, the thermostat housing, and changed the fluid after flushing out the rad as best I could. EVerything actually looks pretty clean in there.

The waterpump still had the Chrysler markings on it so I assume it was the stock pump and thermostat. This chassis has 177k on it but the engine is out of a 90k mile junk yard XJ.

I wonder how much longer it would have taken the cavitation to pound a hole though that casting.

Hmm I just figured it was cavitation.
