Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Colorado is expensive, and is just getting more expensive especially in the desirable areas.

We bought our home last year (September) in Fort Collins for $315k. This house not but 5-7 years ago would have been a $250K or lower home. In the less than a year since we've owned it...it's gone up $40k, not counting anything we've done to it.

I love Fort Collins, which is one reason I stayed here after college...just couldn't get away.

I grew up in the Springs, and I have no desire to ever live there again (just not my cup of tea).

Denver and the outskirts...fukk no. We had plans to move to Lakewood (or there abouts) at one point, glad I didn't. I went from an engineering consultant and driving 1-2hrs+ each way to and from work every day (or living in Georgia for the last part of 2015)...to being 3 miles door to door.

Most people commute, it's not that uncommon. 20-30 minutes is pretty normal-ish for the slightly larger places.

Me, I would love to live in a place just outside of Vail (Eagle/Avon), but the price vs. job availability in STEM vs. housing just isn't there. I'm really meant to live in a small-ish mountain town...feel like I'm at home everytime I'm in one (Winter Park was a second home for several years). There's just not the job market in them.

For the hell of it, I looked at prices while we we're in Telluride...$450k was the LOWEST listed thing I could find

Small, and mountain-y, with jobs available = $$$$$
Small, mountain-y, with not many jobs around = more affordable
Small, with jobs available, and affordable = a bit east of I-25

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I might recommend looking around Durango. It is a long way from any big city but has a regional airport and is a hub for south western Colorado and northern New Mexico.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I don't see how the home prices keep going up.

It's the influx of people from other states/countries. Northern Colorado alone is expected to grow by at least 6% annually for at least the next 8 years.

The obvious solution is to build a wall around the state.

We don't have a social, political or economic problem in this country like everyone is currently complaining about. We simply have a population problem. Everything will continue to get more expensive, while the increase in global population allows incomes to stay stagnant. It's an unfortunate product of capitalism that scholars have been talking about for centuries

LOL Telluride. Only in my dreams. We would have to sell a lot of farm land to pay cash for that.

Now that is come good information.

We will continue our search and hope to find something small.

We are almost debt free and we want to keep it that way. We find it hard to sleep at night owing anyone anything.

These small towns usually have a small mechanics shop in them?

we have a population problem? Say it aint so.

This is true. But political groups I suspect have a plan for this, to them that will cure the social and economical problems it has caused.

Growing up we use to fly for miles and never see a home, now I cant farm a square 40 acres without a house in the way

Re: The Colorado BS thread

If you don't mind being rural, and can find work, Colorado-californicated pricing has not totally reached the northwestern part of the state -- the north park area, Hot-Sulfer Springs area, even Walden... and it isn't flat, its real Colorado. Finding work there may be rough, and the prices are rising as the small ag towns become bedroom communities for people who who work in Winter Park/Fraser or Steamboat, but can't afford to live there.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Why I'm happy an hour commute is normal to my now. Moving won't be too big a problem if work is t right next door.

I love me some Walden! Plus the North Sand Hills are just a few miles north from there.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Not lifting much for a long time but still being fairly strong has some weak points...lol...like tonight I decided to do mostly back and doing pull downs I did not have the pads in right spot so I just squeezed them hard with my legs to keep myself on the seat with the last heavy set and that sprained my adductor ...lol...man I recall prepping the 300lb stack for 20 reps and benching 315x15 reps...now I'm straining my legs holding myself down on pull downs and struggling to bench 325...lol...maybe it is time to get acquainted with regular gym activity again ?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I just ordered a new stack that I am gunna start after my next tdy in Guernsey (so I can drink), I am excited to not feel like a gym newbie again.

I spent some time growing up on the family ranch at Walden back in the day. It was the most backward isolated place I have ever lived. I lived there four years and was still treated like an outsider.

Access to a decent grocery store or shopping for clothes meant a long trip to Laramie, Cheyenne, or Denver. It had twice as many bars as churches. I'm sure it has come a long way. If you live there, UPS will be your friend.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Any place that has twice as many bars as churches is my kind of place... WTF am I doing in Colorado Springs?:rof:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Ordered a bolt on orbital mount bracket to save time I went with the Liquid Iron piece over the RBmetalwork front Arizona as the pics showed s 3/16th piece of bent plate with. ..two Gussets on the bends the RBmetakworx. piece was. 250 but lacked the gussets but was $15 less...well to my confusion what I have here from poly performance lacks any of the Gussets pictured in description if the item, so for $15 more I got a thinner piece of bent plate with a $ 15 higher price tag...not real worried about the strength for the application but the item they picture is better made than what they sent and is actually less quality than the competitor since theirs is less money and thicker steel.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I've been hearing weird shit about poly orders last handful of months. Totally wrong parts showing up if they show up type deal. May be worth a phone call to ask a wtf.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Wasn't there someone on here that could do dealer flashes?

I am going to be adding the factory tow hitch to my wife's jeep and need to have it flashed to include the tow package in order for the trailer lights to function properly. I'd much rather pay someone on here than the local dealership.

Also going to be installing a front leveling kit here shortly and maybe some sliders if I get some extra time. Added rubicon wheels and some 265/70/17 duratracs. I am only $490 mounted and balanced into the setup and I think it looks pretty slick.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yes, but I doubt you want to come down to the springs for it. Any shop that has Chrysler's witech should be able to do it, and probably will be cheaper than the dealer.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My optima yellow died it was bought 3 years ago I figured it was out of warranty, well had I brought it in last week I would have got a new one on warranty...just spent $235 on a new one...but Damn that really hurts missing the boat by 6 days.
