Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I'll second the hankook atm rf10's. Great tire.
Where do you find that suffix, after the tire size? I have the ATMs, 112T after the tire size. They are older tires, I would call them "average" on ice.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That^
For tires better on ice you start to cut into life of the tire and quality of tire on conditions other than snow/ice. IMO

Re: The Colorado BS thread

And there is the option of having them siped. It helps on tires with larger tread blocks.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The hankook is a very well sipes tire from the factory. And they are long deep sipes not just small surface ones that don't do a damn.
All around winter is the blizzaks hands down. Availability of size is hit or miss.
The attic claw is a great winter tire but wear fast, and not recommended for summer or year round use. Chunk a bit in the sand/Rock roads in the WP area. Also the sidewalls are less than stout.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I can't recall what tires are on the Liberty right now but they are siped. I may use them for a while but I eventually would like to get them swapped out for something that will be better for mild off roading.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

was out on the back roads they were empty so I decided to play on the snow packed curves in the road...lol...lets say I took one curve way too fast drifting the curve in my school bus size pickup and could not keep the road so i turned the wheel to let it spin around completely since it was already to late to save so I was hoping it would just hit the burm sideways and stop ,which it did but my passenger fender just ever so slightly kissed and aspen and put a quarter size dent in my otherwise perfect fender ...it's a smooth dent ,but it's at or possibly was below zero and paint does not stretch at those temps so while I could pop the dent I can't easily fix the split in the paint...lol...so 10 minutes of fun will cost me about $200 to fix the ding ...lol...you would think at my age I would have learned better ,but nope ...I need to get my Jeep done so I can stop f-ing off in my pickup to get my stupid driving fix .

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Good to see you are still kicking Dutch. I know life has been rough lately, but check in every once in a while anyway.

Thanks Tom, I appreciate it

Tires on the Liberty are no good in the snow but I am having a hell of a time finding anything like a BFG AT, MT in 235/60/18.

Nitto terra-grapplers are awesome tires

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I have searched high and low and I cannot find a tire that is a more aggressive all terrain tire that comes in a 235/60/18.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Nitto makes a Terra Grappler G2 in 255/55/18. How can I go about making sure a slightly different size will fit?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Thanks for posting that. I have a message into a guy over on Jeep forum to see if he was on stock suspension when he fitted some 255/60 Hankook tires. If he was then 255/55 should be even less of an issue right? Tire should actually be slightly shorter? And yes...I'd rather have the BFG in that case.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

If I'm correct...the 255/55 should be about 3/4" wider than the 235 and pretty darn close to the same height if my math is correct.

Did you ever find the GVWR sticker?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Mike the sticker does call for 235/60/18. I just looked up the tire size for the Limited Jet Edition and they run 245/50/20 on those. To my knowledge, those have the same suspension so a 245 should be 9.6" wide so if the suspension is the same we're now talking about less than half an inch wider if I go with 255. Seems like it should fit huh?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Given that tire sizes are nominal, OK. :)

My purpose in looking for the decal is to verify the rated size, as opposed to the previous owner's budget or preference.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

This seems appropriate this week...
