Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I just got back from the ER. Last night I was down in Cheesman Canyon by my lonesome and slipped and fell and got swept downstream a bit. My shin bashed a boulder. I thought for sure it was broken. Up all night. X-rays say my bone (unlike Yella's) is in tact and fully functional. Just a nasty hematoma. I did tell Heather than the doctor's presented a really solid argument based on medically proven facts that I should consider medicinal marijuana to get me through this pain and discomfort. She hung up the phone.

Check this out. I'm driving to the emergency room earlier today and I see an unusual looking car up the road so I get close enough to it. Sunbeam Tiger. Never seen one. Just as I was almost to Pikes Peak Hospital, I see two more on the side of the road (one with the hood open). Pretty badass little car.

Yeah - ford v8 in an itty bitty roadster

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My bone wasn't ever broke...... She slipped him a roofie. Clearly intimidated by him. ;)

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I've always said fishing is dangerous. That does look like it hurts.

It looks scraped, are your waders ok?

After I managed to crawl up on shore (with my fly rod in hand and unscathed I might add) that was the first thing I checked). Ripped. I was sooooo pissed.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That sucks. Good save on the rod. I'm sure my wife would not understand if I told her I needed new waders because I ripped them while trying not to drown.

I never want to be that guy that needs a wading stick, but maybe it would be a good idea. I just would think they would be more of a hindrance while working some water. Good for crossing, but what do you do with it when fishing? And it definitely would not be used in the heat of a chase when there's a fish on.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Honestly...here's what happened. I was fishing streamers and I prefer to work downstream (opposite of when fishing nymphs when I walk upstream). This way I can cast upstream and let it dead drift down, I can go directly across and bomb that far bank, or I can quarter downstream which is what I generally do and swing the fly into the deeper water. I'm working a spot that I really like and a guy comes up from downstream and comes right into my area. I waited and fished for another 10 minutes thinking he would leap frog me but he just parked it. I was not happy but I decided to cross to the far bank, walk down a bit and start over. I usually will go all the way down several hundred yards and then get out and walk the bank back upstream and repeat. I'll be damned if he didn't do the same thing on the next trip down. Came right into where I was working and set up shop. We exchanged words and I left. I was upset and should have just gone home but it was a gorgeous evening so I relocated. The sun was bad and I couldn't see as well and had not fished that stretch in a few weeks. I knew it was going to drop off soon but thought I had a few more steps.

A wading staff can be great but it really would not have helped me in this instance. And just so you know...they are collapsable and fit into a rather small sheath/pocket that attaches to your wading belt so when you're done with it, it folds up and and disappears.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Here's the scene last night: Heather and I are invited to a BBQ up the street so we decide to go. We're sitting out on the deck, I'm on beer #3 and one of the gals starts telling us about her sister and how she feeds her dog a strictly raw meat diet (chicken, beef, and salmon). She goes on to mention that her sister hand feeds the dog and that she thaws the meat out in the bath tub. Now keep in mind I'm on #3 so I look at Heather as if to say, "Did I just hear that correctly?" I apologize and then say to the woman, "I'm sorry but I need to clarify that you just said what I think you just said. Your sister thaws out the meat in her bath tub?" She says, "Yes because there's so much meat required." I say, "Go on." She then proceeds to tell us all how clean her sister is and how clean she keeps her house. However, the very next detail is that the mother was in town visiting recently and she got e-coli in her vagina from taking baths in said tub. So I add, "Your sister's not as clean as you think she is." Everyone was pretty quiet at the table (this is during dinner by the way) and, finally, one guy pipes up and says, "Yeah that is disgusting."

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Now that you have worked with special needs children, you can't get away from them.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Swell. Yourself?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ROR. That was a better answer.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I've got to take a wicked poo at the moment so I'm hoping this truck unloads quickly so I can get back to the shop to poo in silence and nice air conditioned peace.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

No Taco Bell. I can't do that place. It was the dominos pizza that did me in. I had a cheat meal yesterday and it tore me up. Back to the healthy stuff. Balls.
