Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, on a royal coachman, in some little private ponds/old gravel pits near Fairplay. One of the prettiest fish I've ever seen. I tracked him for about an hour, as he obviously is somewhat poorly camouflaged. He finally got sick of me and hit it. Dumb luck or just attrition...

I was stunned to see it in the river. Took me an hour.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Yeah, in wild habitat, that is a serious rarity... Very cool. I didn't even get a picture of mine.

You got my googler fired up! I've always known these as Albino Trout: http://coloradocastersblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/albino-hellifiknow.html

I caught one in 1978, on the Grand Mesa. The people who managed the cabins (at Island Lake) told us it was stocked by the State.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Golden Trout and "albino golden rainbow" are not the same fish. Goldens are a different species from rainbow.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just to be clear...the picture I posted was taken from yahoo images. I spotted something in a deep pool today on the South Platte. At first I thought it was an unusual rock. I stared at it for several minutes but kept thinking it was moving slightly. Then a small window opened up in the riffles and I saw the red gill plate and almost shite my waders. It took forever to get that fish hooked. I did it, it immediately came up to the surface and jumped (then seemingly froze). I screamed (and that rarely happens) then it came off (while I was still screaming) and I dropped to my knees. I lost 11 big fish today and was very frustrated. But...I'm ok with this one getting off. I've only ever heard of two others being landed in a river. When it broke the surface, time stopped. I saw it's spots. Hands down...more exciting than my first Tarpon on a fly.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

So...... whaddya do with a janky old '57 Chevy 4dr wagon and a '68 El Camino that aren't worth restoring? You cut them up into this apparently. Oddly...... I really kinda dig it. Like a real-life Car Toons magazine car, or a Rat Fink drawing. Has a 427 in it.... with a blower..... I bet it does wheelies. Especially with tongue weight...

I'm thinking it needs a hole in the hood, a tunnel ram, topped by an injected 6:71 blower so that it all sits just a touch higher than the roof...... :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

That is a nice piece of custom work.

And I completely agree that a nice, big, 6-71 with dual quads on it should be poking out of the hood.

It is not like it is subtle after all. More of an "In Your Face" ride...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

IMO.... The compelling reason for the 6-71 is the noise they make. If you think my Supercharger makes noise....

We installed one on the '40 Ford Woody back in '61 (ish) and you could hear that compressor from almost a block away.

Wonderful sound.

I'm willing to bet that Rainbow-haired troll doll has seen a chocolate starfish or two in its lifetime.

Did his vehicle smell like Astroglide?

You are such a jerk. Had to go over procedures/expectations when caring for my dogs with this person today and I kept thinking about your comment. My wife wasn't happy with me either when I asked him if he'd ever been to the beach and seen a starfish.

:roflmao:That is some funny shit right there........

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Other descriptors that I wanted to throw out included balloon knot, and dirty sheriff's badge but I couldn't think of a way to make either happen.

I'm sorry :D

But you can't unread it!!!

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Just had the most totally random experience. Walking around Tokyo looking for dinner, found a bunch of UK ex-pats hanging around a street-side yakitori place eating and drinking, and I hung out with them for a couple hours. Completely random but the most fun I've had all week.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

I may be showing my naiveté but what is a 'ex-pat'? Is it a guy that went by the name Pat but now prefers to be called Patrick?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The term is "shorthand" for Expatriate. It means "a person who lives outside their native country". Someone that lives in a Country other than the one they were born in is an Expatriate.

Doug, must say that I am sort of jealous. The last time I was in Tokyo was for a Machine Tool Show back in 1990... Did not get much of a chance to tour as the show had us tied up.

My advice, see as much as you can. Not at all sure how the "town" is these days but it was a very interesting place back then.

For sure take a ride on one of the bullet trains.
