Colorado B/S Thread

The Colorado BS thread

This morning I left my house at approx 7AM with one thought in mind. I wanted a Double-Double from In-n-Out Burger.

I met up with my buddy Jim at his house in Loveland as he also had a craving for some In-n-Out.

We took Overland Trail up to HWY-287 and headed north to Laramie, WY. It poured rain the entire time. Very poor visibility, cold, and wet are the only ways to describe it. I put my new Alpine Star rain suit and weather proof gloves to the test and they passed.

After Laramie I-80 would rotate between boring, windy, rainy, and hot. None the less we persevered and arrived at our destination at 5:30PM

I went inside and ordered my Double-Double with Animal Style fries and a Dr Pepper. It was gloriously delicious, as Stewie Griffin would say, "it's like an orgasm in my mouth"

Now we're at a Holiday Inn Express in Heber, UT drinking Blue Moon and getting ready to bed down for the night.

We'll be taking US-40 home in the morning.

Was a 10.5 hour, 550 mile ride worth it to eat a meal at In-n-Out Burger? He'll yeah it was. The Kawi was made for long trips and did a great job. Over 40 MPG and smooth as silk. It's a very comfy ride. I still love the KTM for its power and agility but the Vaquero just eats the miles.

Man........ Why-o-why do we not have In-N-Out Burgers here in Colorado???? :banghead:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Dutch, I think 550 mile in a day is just about perfect. In May of 2005 some friends and I rode out to Las Vegas to watch the AMA finals. We took 2 days to get there, through rain and snow. After a weekend of drinking, gambling, strip clubs and no sleep we found out that a snow storm was expected near Vail the day we were to be riding through. The weather folks predicted 6-8 inches of snow on Vail pass.

We ended up taking the southern route home, south through Arizona and New Mexico. The 1100 mile trip took us 22 hours, stopping every 100 miles for gas. My Honda Magna had a small gas tank and was getting 40 MPG. I had to be at work the next day and I ended up standing the entire day because my butt was so sore. Lol.

I can look back on it fondly now but it was rough when it was happening. We talked to an interesting guy in Santa Fe NM, at one of our many gas stops, who said something I still laugh about to this day. He said 'when it comes to motorcycle riding, there is a line between pleasure and pain, and you guys have clearly crossed it'.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

yeah those long rides can really suck. My Vegas to springs ride in one go was not fun, nor the ride back.
I'm doing a couple drops in salt lake again today then headed to Colorado. Thinking about grabbin another double double and shake before I head back to in n out less co lol.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Rent a truck and sell those bad boys for some profit. :)

Made it back into Loveland. I'm going to eat dinner with the wife and then continue home. Weather was great today, no rain until about halfway down HWY-14 but it cleared up again shortly before Ted's Place. Definitely a fun and exciting ride. I can't wait until I can get another trip planned. For now though it'll be local stuff. I need to start taking the wife out so she can get more comfortable on her bike. Then maybe we can go to In-N-Out as a family.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Made it home, just a hair over 498 miles today. What truly impresses me about the Vaquero is that even as tired and stiff as I am I had no problems hopping back on the bike to cruise down I-25 the 30 or so miles home. As much as I am looking forward to going to bed I would also have no issues riding somewhere else.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

We just found out that there is also an IN-N-Out in Provo, UT. Time to plan the next expedition. :D

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Colorado justifies a 4 speed.
1:1= street
2.72:1= sand snow trail
3.8:1=light crawling rocky stuff
10.2:1= rocks and snow

It will probably end up in the LJ. I have spent the last 3 months building my dads jeep into a sick little rokmen/T2GD half freak.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Anyone ever taken Gambapentin?
