Colorado B/S Thread

The Colorado BS thread

Ahhhhh........ so in reality, he's got 10 or so cars that are worth a damn...... and the other 490 comprise a large salvage yard.

Sad. The article mentioned the abundance of storage for such a collection out there in Pierce, NE. ...... I was of the impression they were saying he had a few buildings to house the cars...... not out in a field.

Bummer.

Edit:

Went to the auction's website and they posted a couple pics of the yard. While those cars appear to be mostly complete....... the Nebraska elements and native vermin certainly will have rendered these to be major restoration projects if not parts cars........

I also looked over the preliminary inventory list on the auction website....... actually quite a large number of vehicles...... particularly trucks..... that have under 10 miles on them. Would be a shame if those are among the ones left in the yard........

Yep, a good majority of the have been sitting in a field for 20+ years. The rats I'm sure devoured all the electrical and interior, not to mention the rust underneath them from sitting in the dirt.

He must have some other sheds somewhere with some cars because I don't recall seeing THAT many cars out there. But then again, it's been a quite a few years since I've been in there.

I'm sure to a hardcore collector, some of them will still fetch a hefty price for what they are, but to the regular Joe Schmo, most of them are going to need serious $$$$ and need to be frame off restored.

Gotta love County Assessor's office websites......... :shhh:

I found the field the cars are stashed in....... right next to the Pierce Nebraska Community Golf Course. Amazing those cars remained untouched being right next to a main road and adjacent to a golf course in plain view........

Last time I was in there was when I was playing golf....hopped the fence and looked around! :D

Some of the cars have had things stolen off them like badging, hubcaps, trim, etc over the years.

Do you guys see how the tires of each of those cars has sunken into the ground? That's really bad. That means that the ground was moist enough over time to where the chassis/floor boards have gotten closer and closer to the moisture and have probably rotted through.

We used to see a lot of this back in the South where guys would park their cars in sugar cane fields and then try to restore them decades later only to find every panel needed replacing.

I hate to say it, but I think the majority of the cars on this lot are junk. That's kind of sad.

Yeah, i'd be curious to see if any were well kept.

Guy had a genius idea of keeping them...but is a dumbazz for not investing some money in a climate controlled building for them to stay in. I can't imagine the difference in the amount of money he will get with the collection as they are versus what he could have gotten had they been "taken care of".

Re: The Colorado BS thread

If he would have even just put them in a pole barn sitting on plywood they would be in a lot better shape. It really is a shame. I think he almost did more harm then good by keeping them out in the trees like that.

Yeah most of those cars have been out there as long as I've been alive ( which I'm 31 ). Back in the late 90's my cousin and a few of his buddies moved the rest of the cars that were still outside at the dealership, out to Lambrecht's farm and dumped them off in the mix of all the other ones.

Up until the past few years with the drought, that area used to get a lot of rain during the summers. And the winters back there are not like here....when it snows, it snows....and the wind drifts the snow like crazy and most of the drifts usually don't melt until spring. So they have been subject to a lot of moisture and a lot of just crappy conditions.

On a side note....IT IS FRICKEN HOT! OMG.

I just spent the last hour welding up my upper trackbar mount and I think I lost about 5lbs of water weight. It is offensive.

That made me laugh. I actually thought it was rather tolerable today while running errands down in the Springs. Amazing what spending 8 days in Mexico does to your inner thermostat. In a few more days I'll be re-acclimated and bitching at 74 degree temps while my wife shivers and looks admiringly at our thermostat.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Anyone planning on going to the hill climb Sunday?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

They're making a mistake using some mom & pop auction company. They should hire a team to go through the cars and get them running, driving, cleaned up, compile all original documentation and feature the collection with Barrett Jackson or Mecham.
Even if they were stored in the desert, a lot of the blue-bloods I keep tabs on would rather have vehicles and parts in their natural state. It seems there is a big difference between normal decay and improper rehabilitation/restoration. To wit; it cost more to fix stupid.

I second this...

I've been slaving away in my garage every night trying to make the finish line on the buggy...and I swear it has to be 90+ in there much of the time. Its get to the point where I feel like someone turned a faucet on on top of my forehead I'm dripping in sweat so badly. I bought a little box fan but it doesn't do much. I don't want too much air moving either since it would send grinding dust everywhere it already isn't...and could screw with my shielding gas while welding.

Once the buggy is done I've got a swamp cooler waiting for me. Don't want to run it now and end up with moisture in the air...thus rusting things.

I have the same thing. All it does is just push the hot air around. Pointless.

And everyone's like "yeah but it's a dry heat"

My ass. It's hotter than Hell outside. All that means is you dehydrate faster. Tell that to my skibbys that are holding about 10 fluid ounces of sweat around my hogan.

Here's something to think about..........

Could driving my MJ onto an indian reservation constitute a declaration of war? :looney:

Not unless your license plate read "SML POX".

Too soon?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

ROR. That is totally wrong...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Came to Texas to pick up the gooseneck trailer I bought and visit our mom's. I just finished packing bearings and putting new tires on. It is 101 outside with about 95% humidity. Now I remember why I left this place! Ready to get back to Wyoming.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

And this is why I'll never have children, because I honestly think this is a fantastic idea....LMAO (excuse the language)
