Cold Starting Fuel Exhaust Smell XJ

yes- after a few min of running or when it gets to temp the gas exhaust smell is gone. Does the MAP have a function here ?

AS for checking for a leaky injector , i need to pull the spark plug and check the plug for what wetness ? or smell ? or some kind of crud on it ?

Sounds like a leaking injector to me. Pull the plugs and look for gas in the cylinder. How? Follow your nose. If there is enough raw fuel in the exhaust system to cause the problem you describe it should be very evident when you pull the plugs, if a leaking injector is the problem. At least this would rule out a leaking injector. You might try releasing the fuel system pressure the next time you park it for the night. If in the morning the problem is gone then an injector leak is it. You didn't mention if the problem occurs any other time during the day. like when you go into Carls/Hardees for your Paris Hilton burger and come out after an hour or so and fumigate the parking lot.

I will give that a try - Actually it only happens when the car has been parked at least overnight. If i drop by somewhere for a quick bite or when i go to school this does not happen.
