coilover and 4 links... best bang for buck?

do you really think most XJs are over 4000 pounds of UNSPRUNG weight? I doubt it, but yes they may be somewhat close. But have you seen xj_punk's XJ now? he has the other thread going "plasma cutter made me do it" or something like that. he has nothing left in the back! unless he is stupid, he will be WAY under 2000 pounds unsprung in the back

If you guys are comfortable driving around at the destruction threshold, then so be it. I wont be behind you.....

I agree the rear will not be a problem, but matching an ALL nitrogen shock to a front coil or coilover to get a balanced suspension that works? Maybe, just dont blow an o-ring on Wrecking Ball (It's a JV trail :) ) or you'll be permanently camping.

As to whether he's stupid or not, I have no comment.... :roflmao:

yeah okay... i don't get it, but there does always have to be a negative approach. i am not balancing a nitro shock to coil or coilover, i actually have leafs up front. if you are trying to say that leafs don't flex than i don't know what to tell you.
it doesn't matter anyway because i am sticking with leafs so i can have it done for easter jeep. the fox shocks are on backorder right now. i am pulling a leaf out of the front and rear packs and i am going to wheel the piss out of it. i am going to go pick up a toyota truck frame tomorrow and build it up for the rear half.

All I was saying is what you should already know, building a hardcore rig & all........ That is that the front & rear need to be balanced in spring rate for them to work evenly without making your Jeep into a teeter totter.

If the front is too stiff then the rear does all the work, not fun in downhill off camber situations, if the rear is too stiff then the front does all the work, not good in uphill off-camber situations. They need to be pretty well balanced to work CORRECTLY and give you the ability you're modifying it for in the first place.

And you guys say that I dont wheel.........

Now that's the smartest comment I've seen made in this whole thread.....
