How did they mount? Did you have to cut the bump stops off?[/QUOTE]
The bags shown in the link in the OP are made to go inside a coil spring.

Had them on the front of a motor home and they never lasted more than a couple of years before springing a leak. Too much rubbing with the coil springs would damage the plastic bag. Add a lot of dust and sand from many miles of dirt roads to the grind.
Not the ticket for off-road use.
The bags that go between the axle and frame look like these.

Firestone's catalogue does not show an air bag made for the XJ. Too bad. It may because there isn't enough room under a stock XJ for bags.
A lifted XJ should have a lot more room but will require researching the various bags and finding the one that has the right height, diameter and weight range while maintaining the proper bump stop height needed to prevent damage to the body and tires.
I have used Firestone bags on a van and motor home for a combination of 150,000+miles and never had a problem. They are really nice for occasionally heavy loads. Each bag has its own air valve so you level thing out side to side.
Some bags have internal bumpstops and other don't. Since the stock bump stop is in the way of an air bag, it has got to go. The bag needs to have its own internal bump or it will destroy itself if bottomed.
