Coated headliner with resin, not enough hardener, still tacky

Just an update on the hood release. I purchased one from the dealership today for $45.00. That's the complete cable...not just the inside wire and handle. The counter guy knew exactly what the handle was from before I could say a word...I guess he see's this a lot. I asked him if they improved the design...he just smirked and shook his head no.

I'm thinking instead of going through the headlights I could cut away the outer wire sheath of the broken hood release to expose the cable to pull with a pliers. What do you think?

Mine comes out through my grille. I have an end on it so I can pull it to open hood. Works for me. Not worried about anyone trying to steal anything, hell I even leave my keys in the ignition....Oooops...is my address on here......LOL
