So, I've got some family in town and they want to go wheelin'. Short notice, but we'll be up there around 9:30 in the morning if anyone can make it.

Dont think the "trail" itself is closed, Just all the offshoots that were illegal in the first place got blocked off.

this is it. anything but the fire road has always been illegal. they finally got tired of people tearing up the area after rains i'd imagine. any time it got muddy up there it always got dug out bad.

this is like round 3 of this bs - last time it was cuz ranger rickette decided to shut it down on her own, & got goons on atvs to "report" e-1. later found out she was fired due to that - there are no fences (other than pucker) & no warning signs. cleghorn off-shoots have been run for years & years. Unless theres a new marshall in town, i don't see that changing

From one of many emails I have about this from the sbnfa aat program and ohv program

these actions are the result of a Federal requirement to create designated motor vehicle routes on every National Forest in America.X Unfortunately, off-highway vehicles are listed as one of the top ten biggest threats to damaging National Forest Lands.X Not one of the 'bypasses' on Cleghorn were ever designated as a legal numbered route. As you may know, some of the unauthorized routes (bypasses) on Cleghorn have been blocked and slashed with brush.X Some of the bypasses that were not blocked will become legal, designated, numbered roads.XThis effort is part of the SBNF travel management decision.X All of the designated routes should be reflected in the final SBNF Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM).X Using American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) dollars, the contract restoration equipment and crews started this project on the west side of the forest and worked east of Big Bear.X The work has been completed.

has anyone been up there over the last couple weeks who can give real info? r they really blocking trails off, or is this another bs tactic by peeps like ranger rickette who just wanna scare e-1 off? this is a question, not derogatory.

if u look back at last years thread on this whole cleg bs, sbnf rules were posted, quoted as fact (which are true enough) then debunked by the forest service, after they fired the over-anxious bimbo. I'd personnaly like to hear what's going on up there from peeps who've been there over the last few weeks.

I was up around 3 weeks ago. I live locally and the SBNF has made a big push this spring to close off all routes other than the main Fire Road. This has also been done to trails local in Oak Hills and Phelan. The main road is basically fenced on both sides with T-Bar and Wire Fencing...

thanx for the in-put bubba. looks like another part of OUR forest has been closed off. sorry if i pissed peeps off, especially gerr, but this is an on-going problem w/ cleg. a ranger or lackey gets a wild stick up their rear-end & all of a sudden we're gonna close a place down that has been used for well over 20 years.
i don't buy that they can close the whole area off, been tried before. i would suggest we all get on e-mail to the sbnfs & protest this total bs

I think a lot of people feel the same way you do...I went up today near local area between HWY 2 and HWY138 and there are already several sections of fence that have been cut up and the area has been "unofficially reopened"

Cleg has always been my favorite trail. I feel like a friend died. We can also thank the useless dipshits who go out there drunk and tear up the scenery, or roll their rigs-or both.

I'd still like to see this fencing, though.

The few screw it up for the many like usual. Then to top it off we as the wheeling public dropped the ball and didn't handle things appropriatly when the plan was up for comments.
We have no one to blame but our selves!
Good news is they didn't close pilot rock and the x trail.
Now let the flamming begin
