Clear creek closure

Thanks Dave I know I'm no where near as smart as you when it comes to computer. However that was pretty low. Yeah everyone these places are becoming harder and harder to find and Dave is right sign this thing show them we want to use our land. Like I said before this isn't going to benefit me I will be gone in 6 months so do it for your chapter before its all gone!!!!!!!!!

:) Thanks Jason

should we start a little seirra chapter sub comittee that is responsible for helping to keep trails open? i think that would be good idea. i think not only for our own good, but for future generations. we could attend meetings, help with petitions, and find legal ways to find closures. just an idea.

Thats a good idea we already have updates on that with in this forum but we could really all be more involved. Who do I need to talk .

yah like being super active in the stuff would be cool. id be interested. it seems like you too jason. we could help fight to keep the trails open and start even getting hikers in trouble for not carrying wag bags and stuff like that! you, know those tree hugging environmentalist are so hypocritical sometimes! live in a big cuty, where the XXXX did the big city come from? there was a forest there once! so what, now we should sue human civilization for cutting down entire forrests to live in cities? why the hell do they insist on closing our trials? i bet they are like less than 0.1% of all roads any ways! i dont understand their reasoning. we love jeeps and the outdoors, perfect mix of man made machinery intertwined with rocks and dirt.

A very important day has finally come. Your Presence is Requested Tommorrow.
The San Benito County Board of Supervisors will be meeting this Tuesday April 6, 2010 at 1:30pm to vote on reopening all 25 miles of county roads in the Clear Creek Management Area. We are requesting that as many people as possible show up and support the reopening of these PUBLIC ROADS, and the County Supervisors and County Council in their quest to better serve the citizens of San Benito County and the surrounding areas.
This would be the first giant step in having one of the top ten riding areas in the nation reopened for public use since it was closed two years ago by the BLM’s Rick Copper of the Hollister Field Office. Please make the time show up to this meeting to show our local government that as Americans we are willing to stand up and fight for what we believe is right.

If you can attend this important meeting please email Mike Wubbels at [email protected] from Friends of Clear Creek Management Area, so he will have an idea of how many folks will be there to support reopening Clear Creek.

Awesome news!

The Best News in 23 Months
Today April 6, 2010 the San Benito County Board of Supervisor made history by voting unanimously to reopen all of the closed roads in the Clear Creek Management Area. This does not mean that you can go out and ride in Clear Creek, but you can once again travel any of the county roads without the fear of being ticketed or thrown in jail. This was done over the requests of the BLM’s Hollister Field Office Manager Rick Copper who asked that the board keep the roads closed till the Record of Decision comes out. Mr. Copper was asked by the board when that was and he replied maybe as early as January 2011?

We ask that all Americans who will be visiting and driving thru the Clear Creek Management Area in the near and foreseeable future to observe the rules by staying on the county roads and not go off of them. We must learn to police ourselves thru these trying times knowing that the ultimate outcome will be a full return to the type of riding we used to know at the creek. If just a few abuse this sweet victory it will be short lived and give cause for the BLM to find ways to revoke what we have fought so hard to achieve.

If you see someone breaking the rules, please take a moment and educate them to what is at stake for all of the OHV community and the public if we lose this victory. I believe full heartedly that if we stand united together, that in the foreseeable future we will once again ride and enjoy all that the Creek has to offer every one of us and the family experiences it has provide for many of us throughout the years.

This day will forever live in the history books as a pivotal point for the OHV community and the American Public. The impacts of today’s decisions are being watched all across this great country of ours, and the impacts of these decisions will shape the future of OHV and the way our Public Lands are managed. After all Public Lands belong to the Public and not the government agencies managing them. Remember the CONSTITUTION says that the federal government CAN NOT OWN OUR PUBLIC LANDS but can only manage them.

Please pass this information on to as many people as you can, and remember that UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL. Please remember that there is still a great amount of hard work ahead for all. Enjoy this hard fought victory, but do not let up the pressure to accept anything short of full unrestricted access to the Clear Creek Management Area.

Nice, glad to see something went right for once. Its a shame that people are so divided on pretty much everything. You know, I'm no tree huger or liberal by any means but that doesn't mean I'm not reasonable either. I think recycling, not dumping antifreeze down drains and treading lightly are good rules to go by. That doesn't mean we can't be responsible and enjoy places like Clear Creek, Hollister and the Rubicon either. It just sucks because if YOUR not on the side of global warming or protecting the outdoors like the Sierra Club then your automatically the bad guy and your on the defense by default. I know how to enjoy wheeling and respect the environment at the same time. It just sucks that so many people try so hard to shut us down and close places where we like to go. Just remember guys it only takes one of us doing something stupid to make everyone else look like the bad guy and that's a damn shame. I hope more things work in our favor!

What the HELL are you talking about?

We are NOT the bad guy and we are NOT on the defense!

I am on the side of protecting our outdoors, I love the trees, I am a tree hugger! I am just not on the side of closeing it off from public use.

Global warming is true, over the last one hundred years the global surface temperature increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C. But of greenhouse gases resulting from human activity such as fossil fuel burning and deforestation is only about 3% of the carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere.

Decaying plants may be responsible for up to 20 to 30% of the world's methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, so offroaders help with clearing out the dead wood and brush.

Forest fires release more carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas then decaying plants, the let burn policies of the Sierra Club and the opposition to forest floor clean up, any type of clear cuts is just wrong.

Volcanic activity launches more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the amount generated by human activity, off roaders are close to fixing this one too! :spin1:

I didn't say we ARE the bad guys I'm saying the people who want dirt bikers and off roaders off of trails make us LOOK like the bad guys because "we like to drive over everything". Thats how they make it seem to outsiders who don't understand off roading. So what I'm saying is the off road community actaully DOES see eye to eye on a lot of environment issues BUT I feel sometimes by driving lifted trucks with mud tires and four wheel drive is kind of a guilt by association to a lot of people. To state what I said in a different way is...basiaclly if most people and groups who want to reduce the amount of trails and places we can take our trucks only knew that most of us ARE respectful off roaders I would hope more places would be opening up rather then shutting down.

This is great! So just to be clear, that means you can drive on the "r" roads, not the "t" roads? and what about camping?
