chrysler 8.25 vs ford 8.8

i'm going to swap out my dana 35 and was looking for some input. i don't plan on running anything bigger than 33's and am leaning towards the 8.25 for the ease of things. i know it doesn't have as much aftermarket support as the 8.8 but there are parts out there for it. so what's your thoughts on it?

If you're 110% that you'll never go bigger than 33's........go with a 29 spline 8.25. That's enough beef to handle 33's and it'll be cheaper and easier to swap it in.

I run an 8.25 with alloys and a lock-rite, 33x12.5 mt's no problems. Im pretty hard on it too..

I run an 8.25 29 spline welded with 35 in BFG Krawlers. I beat the snot out of it including clutch drops and no breakage yet.

Yeah, I've not seen an 8.25 break - yet. They can't be invincible.

one thing to remember about the 8.25 is a detroit is the only option for a locker on the 29spline version. No cheapy lunchbox lockers. Alos gears stop @ 4.56.

Powertrax makes a noslip for the 8.25 29 spline. Unless you're commenting on the durability and I missed it.

Oh, and I always read about people dogging the 8.25, but there are VERY FEW stories of them breaking....if any. Your 8.25 will do you just fine.

8.25s are semi-float and can't use true alloy axles. But I would bet you would be hard pressed to break 1541s.
