not firing, pulled dist. cap and replaced rotor button looked worn. cleaned the contacts on the cap (corrosion), still no fire.
the power wire to the dist. shows 12 v with the ign. switch on.
I took the coil out of the cap and checked it with ohm meter, shows less than 1 ohm between the 2 wires and open between either of the 2 wires and the ground lead on the coil.
not sure how to test the coil to see if it is actually doing what it is suppose to do (secondary). I hate to just throw parts at the heap in hopes of getting it right.
gotta get this puppy running this weekend and get it sold.
I need the mooola to fund my 87xj project.

9 out of 10 times it will be the Eletronic control module
for that truck there are 3 options
4 pin
5 pin
7 pin
All in the $30 range the NAPA i work at can test modules if you take it off ,i think most NAPA's can.

ok, I assume that is the part in the bottom of the dist. under the rotor buttom?
I will pull it and take it over to NAPA and see. Thanks..
