Cell phone choices......durability

I was very interested in getting this phone until I read about reception issues and a quite earpiece speaker. Have those issues been resolved? This was like 3-4 months ago when I looked into them.

I need a new phone as well (Verizon), but I'm with Goatman, it has to be rugged. I don't care about fancy features either, the less the better. All I want is the ability make a call, to store contacts, and the very occassional text message. A camera might be nice, but not need. My current phone has lasted me a few years and has also had been submerged in oil for a period of time...

The issue is highly exagerated on the internets. Turn the volume up and its fine. No reception issues, reception was better than the Chocolate I had before.

I have AT&T service. I like the mil spec Samsung Rugby, it's just pretty big/thick and I've been used to thin phones, like my current Samsung and previous Razor and Ericsson. The Rugby might be the one if I don't go touchscreen. How is the screen size and resolution for checking e-mail? Do you carry it in your pocket?

The screen is a little smaller than most but the resolution is fine and it takes pretty good pictures. Its hard for me to check my email because I only have my AKO account and my school one which is also web based so its hard to load all the pages to get to them. I do check facebook all the time on it though and it works great for that.

I'm rocking the G'zone as well, got it in September of last year,... ...,Call quality suffers slightly due to the waterproofing.

I've noticed the clarity is a little off in the speaker, didn't make the connection to the waterproofing. Still, I don't try to play music on it, and it works well enough as a phone. I'll trade the clarity for the waterproofing any day.

DUDE! That's between 40 and 50 HOURS a month. Don't they have some kind of 12-step program for people like you?

I've figured out that I will need to be able to check my Yahoo mail on the phone.

I have the G'zone and lets just put it this way.........when it gets dirty.......the instructions in the manual tell you to take the phone and wash it in a sink.



I can probably pound in roofing nails with the screen.......no joke



I got pissed at the woman this one time, and I actually through it so hard it actually put a small hole in the wall. Then I tossed it into my 30 gallon fish tank for over an hour when she tried to call me back, and it sill works fine a year later.

Has anyone broken their touchscreen phone?

I think I'd prefer the touch screen phones over the type with the small keyboards, because the keys and screen are bigger, and hopefully easier to see and use.

I deployed 5 Blackberry Touch phones a couple weeks ago to our road warrior staff. I've sent 3 back already to exchange for ones with keyboards, and have a 4th going back as soon as it returns from Italy.

Make sure you find someone with the phone you're considering and send 5-6 emails from it as a test before you buy one.

my rugby fits in the pocket fine. yahoo mail should be fine too because when you select the email thing yahoo is one of the choices.

The gZone boulder is thinner and shorter then the -S, also the -S also has a big "bumper" on the top. It won't fit in most flip phone carriers.

The Boulder is a better choice for pocket carry. The type S is bulky in a pocket. I don't carry a bunch of crap though, so keys in one side and phone in the other work for me.
