I'm looking for a decent and inexpensive CB radio. I would like the price to be no more than $150 for everything. Everything means radio, antenea, microphone, etc. I know nothing about CB radios except that I want one.

Bought my Cobra at walmart 45 bucks

My Cobra 75SXT somethin' or other could kick any other CB's a$$. I love lightly holding that thing in my hand....the CB...and saying, "Breaker breaker 1-9 come on". I try to end it with a "Koo koo koo" a la Rosco Pee Co Train.

I just bough the same one. The model is actually cobra 75 WX ST, not 75SXT. My question now is what antenae and SWR should I buy?

SWR is Standing Wave Ratio. Something that is set, and something that must be done if you dont want to risk burning up your radio. Buy the radio with the extras you want (all are limited to 4 watts on there output power) Get a good antenna like a K-40, Wilson, or Firestick, use good wire (not that cheep shit you get at Radio Shack, or the Flyin J), and ether buy a SWR meter (only about $30), and learn how to use it, or have it done for you. On that note. Most radios DON'T come with a built in SWR meter. It is just a power meter. Don't let any one try to tell you. " You dont need to set you SWR. Just hook it all up and go" You can fry your radio with the first key of the mike if it to far off.

how much would it cost to have some one run a swr on it? o and when i mount the antenna does it have to be straight up. i was thinking on mounting it paralell to the roof.

Depends, but usually between $10 and $20.

Yes, vertical would be better both for transmission and reception. You may want to check http://www.dxzone.com/ for more information regarding theory and operation.

Great bunch of people. I've ordered all my CB stuff from them, very helpful on the phone, decent prices and fast to ship.
