CB antenna mount

I've got to agree on the dual antenna thing. I mounted two Firesticks on my Tacoma (one on each side of the tool box) cause I thought it "looked cool". Cb never really worked all that good. A long while later I found out they needed much more distance between them so I removed one and suddenly my Cb worked much better! I've got a single Wilson 5000 on the roof of my XJ now and it works great, but then I didn't mind drilling a hole in the roof either! BTW, that mount is really slick, awesome job!
 
Stainless Steel is extremely difficult to work with. So, your saying you fabricated this piece in your garage, or do you work at a facility that can produce this product. Sorry, but that looks way to clean for garage fabrication. I know, I'm a Mechanical Engineer that works with stainless steel everyday. How did you bend it? shear it? and get that radial arc to be so clean. Just wandering...

i met this guy in person. trust me, he's not your average fabricator. i'll let him fill you in if he wants to.

aj, that mount looks SWEET! :worship: how much you want for one? and glad you're enjoying the arb :D
 
Is there anyway you could find out if it worked on 96 and earlier, cause if it does I would like to join the list of those wanting one.
 
No, not in my garage I made it at work on my lunch break I'm a fabricator at Richard Childress Racing. Stainless isnt that difficult to work with if you get your speeds and feeds correct. Its really easier to weld ( TIG ) than mild steel is. I'm looking into the fit on'96 and earlier XJ's.

This is my order...I want a right side one and depends on how much they are...I'll take a left side one too...I got a 97 XJ so it'll fit perfectly...This thread is on my favorites so I'll keep checking it to see if would like to start producing it...Let us know...

Hi once again thanks for all the compliments. I'm looking into getting a some laser cut, and if it isnt too pricey I should have some available. I never ment to do a "production run" just show you guys what I made and get some feedback, but if I can get it done cheap enough why not?

that is a sweet mount for sure (and it sounds like you could sell dozens of them just here).
anyway, since somebody asked about a rear mount, i thought i'd throw this out there:

i picked it up at a local CB shop. it does require drilling, which i understand some folks would prefer not to do...

Hi I don't have a firm price on getting the ant. mount laser cut yet but it seems that I'll probably get between 12 or 25 cut . I have some of the pics for those that requested them ( not mounted and mounted with taillight removed ) and a pic of my cb install. Does anyone have a good source for some shielded wire for power supply ?

MMIXJ - Did you have to drill a hole big enough for a screw on Coax end or did you use some other type of deal where the coax attaches to the antenna?
