Good possibility. I have looked at his post count and a cross section of his posts too. Most seems to be related to Cash for Clunkers with some minor misinformation here and there that I'm sure he will change the subject or argue a point you actually didn't disagree on. Thus my conclusion.

I am trading in my Kia Sedona for a Ford Focus.
The Kia has less than 50K miles on it and the engine is shot and the dealer won't warranty it, so I am using the program to its best effect in taking the Jeep off the road as a daily driver and getting rid of a piece of crap sitting in my driveway.

That works, I was in the OC this weekend every dealer that I drove by had their clunkers on display. All the ones I saw were real pieces. I just hope that all these people are able to afford their new cars. By the looks of the ones they traded in I fear many wont. Many of the cars I saw were on their last legs leading me to believe that they were driven so long because the owners "couldn't afforrd" to take care of them and or replace them sooner.

I don't know for sure. There is a time limit before the remains will have to be crushed and I still think it will remain to be seen what really happens. We are towing ours off to the auction (we have about 100 vehicles traded under the program here) but the law says only authorized recyclers can dispose of the vehicles in accordance with the laws governing the program.

There are several things that might happen including despressing the used price of certain parts. Salvage yards can only carry so much inventory so some may go straight to the crusher, who knows.

Especially when all the motors are already toast. Much less valuable with no motor to sell.

Bummer for me, right when I'm trying to find a $2000 XJ. Can't get one from one of my used car manager friends, or the auction, because they're all getting crushed. Not many will get traded in for a little while after the program ends, because anyone interested already did it under the clunker program.

Tons of them around here. Not sure why they would be hard to find in CA but if need be just search a little wider.

I have a 91 Briarwood in my driveway.

Worse yet is I'm looking at a Caddy sitting here that is getting junked and thinking that the Northstar V-8 in it would have been nice for a buggy. Now the motor will be seized and sold for scrap.

Yeah I can see how this would be a long term problem (parts?).....at least it shouldn't drive the price of XJ's up after the subsidy thing is done. I wish they would do this for the donut shops....huh?

I don't think so. I think they have to be crushed. At least they are able to part them out first, minus engine.

The trade-in vehicle has not been, and will not be, sold, leased, exchanged or otherwise disposed of for use as an automobile in the United States or in any other country.

I, or an employee of this facility under my direction or supervision, will crush or shred (or cause to be crushed or shredded on our premises), the trade-in vehicle within one-hundred eighty (180) days after the above-listed date of receipt.

This facility will not sell or transfer the trade-in vehicle’s engine block and drive train (unless with respect to the drive train, the transmission, drive shaft, or rear end are sold as separate parts) at any time prior to its crushing or shredding.

Since the to use it off road it still needs a title to red/green sticker and the body is the vehicle the answer is no. They should be able to sell parts of the body by reading the ruling.

I drove by the PYP on Beach/Ball on the way home today and the parking lot is full of trucks and suvs. There's a damn big sale or that's all the C4C trade-ins waiting to go to the yard. I didn't stop but I saw at least one XJ, there's probably a lot more.

I just towed my Kia to the dealer and talking to the TT driver, he has a dozen XJ at his yard waiting to go to the yard.

Yeah a buddy of mine traded his in for a new ranger. Got a brand new one for just over 10K. However, it worked out great for me too. the sunday before he traded it in, he let me swap out everything I could from his xj to my stock. Got lots of goodies. Dana 44, Rubicon express lift, 31" tires, etc.
