Carnagefest: 8/9/08, REDBIRD SRA Dugger, IN

As usual....this was a great time, with great people. HD Engineering provided ample food (even for me) on Saturday night, and the campfire will live on, even if the tree dies. :D

Other then running my fuel supply a little low on trail (dumbass), a temporarly swamped ingnition system, and a mud caked alternator (that my beat it trick worked just fine on) I once again escaped the CF wraith.

RMCL ended up being a fine sleeping platform, and it was cool enough that the little fan I bought worked great.

I did get even for the mud bath with a well timed horn blast this morning to wake up that mud slinging SOB that got Les and I.

Muffin made a friend that looks better then Dirk....and has 2 more legs, but they really need to soundproof thier tent.....or not. :D

Joe Dirt made a visit and cursed at a dog like the thing understood every profane word. A few local kids sunk thier uncles boat, from launch.

I also found that I could just sit and chat with Les, never wheel, and have just as much fun.....but he is even more fun riding along. Dude has class, but we all knew that.

What more can I say? You guys are the best of the best, it was good to see old freinds again, and make new ones. I cannot wait till the next time we "rednecks" get to get together again.

Rev ... I think I love you more now, than after you hardened John"s shaft I was holding in my hand! ... or was that my shaft? :D

Thanks for the kind words ...

Nate ... thanks for the video ... nice documentation of the slipping transmission, fire, and Mikes fire extinguisher that would not shut off.:laugh2: I love the conversations in the video too.

Hope someone got video of Brian, Pat and the others that were in there. These would be more fitting for everyone than my lame attempt.

Your welcome Les, I did your video first for obvious reasons.
I have almost 60 minutes to edit.
More to come. Thanks Nick

Well that sucks.... seeing the photos and being stuck here working on stuff instead of being able to go play really sucks, glad you all had fun though....

I had a great time and found some new crazy wheelin' buddies. This was my first time to Redbirdsra and was very impressed. I'm absolutely going back.

Ouch

Oh no! Not the bronze-tint vent-window!!!

Still, I'm so jealous... Looked like a whole lot of fun!

Maybe next time!

Got the pressure washer out today to blast off the big stuff. Found a little bit of carnage, not bad. Along with the front crossmember, my TC skid has a pretty decent bow to it now. I may try to beef it up a little bit before WF.

Think I should pay any attention to the front cross member? Just bend it back in place the best I can and call it good?

My altnator has been holding steady at 14V since I got home. :dunno:

Stop running into chit.

Ran the stereo in my junk for a few hours Saturday night, drove fine all the way home, washed it Sunday with the stereo on the whole time and drove it 27 miles to work this morning.

The gen light came on at lunch.

This is the second time in a row I have screwed the alt at Redbird. I think I'll try to spray it out like you mentioned Hale.

A small price to pay for such a good time.
What ya think about removable plexaglass for a window replacement?
Most definitly bronze tinted plexaglass!!!!!
I broke it on trail 4 . They say the hardest trail there, Based on the stuff we did I was lucky..
Thanks for your help with the pics. Nick

I told my buddy sam that we did good.. We made it through "carnagefest" with no carnage...

Until we got home and the alternator went out. haha!

I should have some pics and vids up later this week. My buddy has them on his camera. I was too busy being stuck and getting people muddy to get many pics :D

Third time for me. Last time I took it out and hosed it down with the garden hose. Low pressure, high volume. Took it to NAPA and they told me it was fine. Put it back on, and it's the one still on it today. I hosed it out again the best I could with it on the Jeep and it's putting out 14V.

I had to flush my alternator out as well. It had enough crap packed in it that when the A/C triggered the electric fan, the belt screamed from the load on the packed alt.

Redbird is hard on XJ alternators apparently!
