Calling milwaukee and surrounding area jeepers

scorpio_vette

NAXJA Forum User
Just trying to meet some local XJ's and other jeepers. I'm in a wisconsin jeep club, but most of them live hours away, and i know there are plenty of XJ's around here, cuz i see them quite often.

everything i see on the forum is IL and IN. how about some WI hangouts. BBQ, wrenchfest, etc... .

say hi :)

Hey Yikes where are you in Walworth Co. I am originally from Delavan . My parents still live up there and we are up there several times a year visiting.

Delavan Township :peace: Just off Hwy F south of the inlet.

I'm down in Racine, but I'll be busy for a while. I graduate from college end of this month so I've got a lot of stuff to take care of.

So...
Yes, I know you're a member of the LCJs, but if you're lonely for local company, why didn't you join a local Milwaukee Jeep club? Let's see...
There's Badgerland 4X4 and Damage just off the top of my head.
There are atleast 3 NAXJA members in SE WI... Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha.

Not that I'm feeling paticularly bitchy tonight, but why aren't you a Member of NAXJA?
You want M&G events, but you aren't even a member of the Club. What gives?

I'm about two hours away from milwaukee. I grew up in the franklin/hales corener area and still got family there. I'll go to a meet and greet up there, just post when. -Shaun

franklin... shawano area. one and a half from me... I would like to get a local (ie someone in my gf's family) to lead a journey into the woods one the menominee res. most is logtrails... but the off shoots look great.

Those are not JEEP ONLY CLUBS, and i'd like to hang with some jeeps. (hell i've only seen 1 jeep in damage inc)

I'm looking to make some friends. the thing that (pardon my french) pisses me off the most about clubs is when they think that you can't be friends or hang out with other club members unless you are a member. Hell i'd be broke if i joined every club i've wheeled with or hung out with. I joind LCJ, cuz i knew some of those guys, and at the time it was the only jeep club that i knew of.

I also haven't made any NAXJA events, because all of them are out of state. at least with the club i'm with, or even damage inc, i can at least make some meetings and get to hang with the club a little bit that way.

Now i'm sure somebody is going to bring up the whole "well you've been around here for a while and use the services and bla bla bla bla bla bla bla" speech. Yes i know it costs money to host this site. I used to work on computers and basic websites for a while, and my wife also does webdesign and setup. but it's the bitchy "pay up or screw yourself" attitude on this forum that has stopped me the couple times i thought about signing up.

Now I don't remember reading anything in the rules and regs about not being alowed to meet people and make friends on this website unless you were a paying member. I'm just looking to meet some jeepers local to this area, to get to know each other, hang out, help each other with our rigs (since i have my own shop, i thought it be a great hangout with some wrenches and pizza), and see who's around, so maybe we can try and go wheeling together sometime. Sorry, not all of us live 5minutes from the badlands and get to see the other 4x4's on a regular basis.

not that they are official events, but Meatfest was held last month in WI, and Carnagefest looks like it's going to be in WI this year as well. I think there was a meet & greet in WI a month or so back, too.

Scorp- I think you're selling short a number of entities.
One is NAXJA. There has been an unofficial event within an hours drive of Milwaukee atleast 2 times in the last year, both social in nature.

Another is your local clubs. You want company and to make friends, yet you worry if they drive Jeeps. Get over the brand ego and make friends. Perhaps you can convince them that Jeeps are better than 1 Ton Chevys ;)

You want an "event"? Then plan it. Plan the location, the meals (Eat out, pot luck....), and plan the activity (M&G, wrenching...)

Lastly, I will address the attitude that one can hang here and not get occasionally hassled for not being a member of NAXJA. This forum is here so you can come, kick the tires and see if you want to join the club. You have been here a while now and know that some of us will needle you to pony up. There are benifits to belonging to NAXJA besides the sticker and your name in Red. You become a member of UFWDA and get the United Voice. You get a NAXJA Newsletter. You are allowed to attend Official NAXJA Events without having to be someone's Guest. You are allowed say in how the Club runs and allowed to Vote , to Voice your Opinion in the Members Forum and to make motions. You could do worse than to Join NAXJA.
As a Forum User, you are getting exactly what you are putting in.

Well i'll try to keep a better eye on wisconsin NAXJA events. apparently i missed those.

and i'm not trying to sell non-jeep clubs short, and it's not a brand ego thing. it's a "i don't know anything about modding non-jeeps" thing. i love the rigs from damage inc. those things are pretty nice. and the people are cool. but i don't know anything about them, and wouldn't even know where to begin working on them. it doesn't always have to be a jeep thing, but it be nice if i offer a wrenchfest at my shop or something, that i actually know what i'm doing and can help the other guys out if they get in a jam, or maybe even learn something that i didn't know.

it's never been a brand ego. i just know jeeps. i don't know the rest. down the road, when my shop gets big enough and i can bring some non-jeep knowledge into the shop, i'd like to. for now, i'll stick with what i know. i don't think that's having an ego.

hopefully that makes a little more sense.

You want to play jeeps and talk about jeeps, come on up and I will show you some good trails and work on some jeeps. YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO TRAVEL. Yeah, gas prices suck but suck it up and toss in some gas and drive up north for a day or two.
Better yet, WOHVA is holding a spring cleanup on the Pipeline trail dated May 12th. Show up, clean up, eat up, and wheel the rest of the day. If you want more info just get ahold of me or check out the web site. This is a great group of people to get together with and do some clean up for a good cause.

Kim

hell that's only 2hours away from me. no biggie. don't think i've been wheeling up in that area before. i'll have to see about the pipeline cleanup. i could have sworn i already had an event or jeep build going on that weekend, but i can't remember. i'll have to check with the wife when i get home from work tonight.

I'm sure you already know this, but the difference in Brands is sometimes nothing more than reconfiguring the same product. Very little "new" has been invented in the last few decades. So Chevy, Ford, Jeep,... are really all the same basic machine. Besides, if you help someone with their junk, you get a free tutorial :D

Scorp since you are a LCJ member, you are also a WOHVA member, that's another interesting angle. Perhaps Damage would give you a "Break" on membership because you are already a member of WOHVA <shrug>.

The Pipeline clean up has been on the WOHVA site for some time and I would be suprised if the LCJ site didn't have something on it. Sat morning 9 or 10am till 12 or so.
Mostly just picking up trash and as Kim pointed out a grill out after. The more the merrier, come on up :D

More info on the Pipeline clean up at http://www.wohva.net/phpbbpublic/viewtopic.php?t=844
