The bucks are starting to rut hard. I took down this little guy on Saturday that was nose to the ground sniffin for 2 hours. My other buddy got one as well 30 minutes later. This was at 830 am.
Get out there while the weather is nice, and the bucks are roaming during the day.
Tagged out, hell yes. 2012- black bear, buck, doe, 3 pigs. Done.
Now it's time for ducks and turkeys.

The antlers are only 2" on this guy.

sorry to say as much, but as i read the regs, a legal buck must have a fork on one side in the upper 2/3 of at least one antler. spike buck not permitted.

i can't see the antlers on your deer, and i certainly don't want to take anything away from your hard earned success in the field... just curious how you got a LEO to sign off on your tag.

Legal buck is defined as a forked horn or better. Nothing about 2/3 of the antler or whatever.

Leo is not needed to sign off and verify the animal and tags. I had a Forest Ranger sign this.one off.

My tag is a.special permit called G13 which is Antlerless tag only. Antlerless is defined as spike buck, with antlers of 3 " or less. Or a cute fuzzy Doe.

Mako you interested in going out for quail and/or chukar?

Ahh , I will see!! But chukar destroys me without a doggie. Wednesdays are ducks, Saturdays booked with soccer, baseball. Sundays possible after I stick an arrow in my limit of thunder chickens.

How's 1500 in 30.06 . glass bed heavy barrel, nightforce low light scope, double clicker safety, with 12 oz hair trigger. Shes good out to 400 with Barnes hand loads at 175g

Just came back from Frazier Mountain, west side this time. Had a great bedding down spot scoped out, but nothing. This is the 3rd time I've spent time up there, sleeping in my Jeep and freezing my butt off. Had plans to check out Lockwood Valley, so it's up for next week.
Those spots were great years ago.

PS for Skwerly. Mine is a custom built 1971 Ruger Hawkeye in 25-06. the best trajectory you can get for a caliber that size. It is a 30-06 necked down to 25 caliber. Very flat trajectory for long shots, just love it. Did well in Utah for me, also much more Deer out there.lol.

How do you like your nightforce? I bought a remington 700 and I am looking at glass. Nightforce is one of my options.
