Bye Bye Helicopter

So I bought a RC helicopter.

Took it to the local community college that has a huge field.

It's maiden voyage into the sky began....

Higher and higher she flew....

A slight breeze rolled in.....

Higher and higher, farther and father she flew.....

And then she was too high and too far to recover.....

Mission Control (my buddy) and I determined it was an unrecoverable operation....so to go out with gusto.

Maxed the throttle and watched her fly high and far off into the setting sun.

Goodbye ol gal.

That's all I have to say about that.

Reminds me of a friends first RC plane. He lost it over a treeline about 300 yards away from us. Thinking it was gone for good, he turned off the radio, and we sat down on the tailgate of his truck to mourn the loss of his $400 toy :tears: We sat there for a couple of minutes and suddenly we see this thing shoot straight up in the sky  We both scrambled for the radio to try and recover it but it was too late. As fast as it went up, it flipped over and ran full throttle right into the treetops. I think the biggest piece we recovered was part of the landing gear.

What kind of heli was it. Please don't say it was a big nitro one. If it was a small electric, like the Blade CP, they are cheap to fix. You are supposed to start out slow and just learn to hover, then learn to fly. I work at a hobby shop and there is no telling how many people don't listen and go out and buy a heli they can't control. So they crash it and end up buying a something easier.

I'm hoping for a Blade CX or CX2, even cheaper to fix and/or lose!
