Bungless link sizes

I am gathering parts to revamp my front suspension. I am planning to use 7/8 heims for all my links. I don't have a lathe and don't want to pay a machinist to drill/tap my links. I want to just by some dom that already has has the proper id to tap 7/8 14 threads. What size do I need? I would like to use 3/8 wall maybe less.

I use 1.25 x .25 for my steering and it is taped for the 7/8th rod ends. I don't know if that helps or not.

I would guess anything with a small enough ID would be rather small, OD, to use for suspension arms.
are you against using inserts? depending on what style supension you use, you could get away with only needing 3 total inserts... and could use JJ (or the like) on the other ends (non-adjustable).

food for thought

7/8-14 is a small joint. it's fine for hot rod guys to use them just for anti wrap devices but we put our rigs through a lot more. consider going to a 1" or 1.25" shanked joint. Ballistic fab and summit machine sell nice ones.

the formula for calculating the diameter of the hole you need to directly tap is:

diameter to tap = nominal diameter - 1/pitch

so, a 7/8-14 thread needs a 0.803 dia hole.
