coincidence. I am about to undertake building my first motor. 5.0EFI from my 87 Saleen. I am not sure yet if I am going to stroke it or not. One of my cylinders is damaged and will need to be take to .020. That means new pistons. At that point, all I will need is crank and rods ($600) to get 331 or 347 stroker. Well then I will need bigger heads and intake and custom cam, and well, $10K later we have a nice engine. Gary talked me out of the big stroker tonight.
but I think you should go for it. Just make sure you invest in some good AFR heads and the appropriate injector/MAF/tune if it's an EFI
this guy brian from
www.adperformance.com seems to be a good knowledgable vendor about the windsor stuff.
don't know if you have this George Reid book or not, but I have one of his other ford books and it has very detailed info:

I have been reading up on
www.corral.net

If you really want a stroker, you might not save any money than buying a shortblock from
www.coasthigh.com rather than building your own, especially once you factor in machine work. I have been weighing this and have decided that I would like the experience of building my own engine. I mean, hey how bad can I screw it up
