Brown Liquid?? near battery

A coworker informed me someone had vomitted in front of my car, i investigates and found a brown liquid leaking on the ground. it seams to be coming from the fronbt right side, close to the battery. what in the world is this? maybe a rad?

My first guesses would be coolant or trans fluid, both of which should not be brown.

Okay it seems that my coolant jug is empty of liquid, in its place is brown gunk, similair to the stuff thats on the ground?, the rad looks okay from the front, maybe a hose or? what could have caused this? the rad was replaced not even a year ago?

Or the coolant jug is cracked. Seen it before. Fill it with water and look for a leak near it. Did you open the radiator to see if it is full?

rad is empty, im going to buy some of that stop leak, any experience with it?

green coolant turns rusty mud color when it oxidizes

find the leak and fix the problem. stop-leak will create more problems for you by gumming up other stuff like your heater core. fill the system with water and watch for leaks

What year is your XJ? Could be an 0331 problem combined with a leaky radiator...
