Broken driveshaft

dont know if you have a u take apart style junkyard but man do those save you some money. good practice too.

could weld a little blob for tab, its not right but it works.

you need a new pinion yoke, replace it asap. Those ears are wht hold the U-joint caps in place. The tension under the straps is minimal, their job is really just to hold the U-joint in the yoke in the fore/aft direction.

I believe the yoke part # is 83503318,
Back when I did this job it was rather cheap, now its a $40 - $60 part, maybe some other places have it.

I definitely would replace the yoke, the caps will not hold for long no matter what, and I tired all kind of ticks to mend it without replacing it. Even tired to weld the tabs (they didn't hold for long) before I found out the dealer still stocked it.
I'm trying to remember how it went together, you will need a impact gun, I think it was fairly easy to replace.

Did a quick search Rompalicious has it for the cheapest ($33 + shipping) so far.
Ebay has a ton of them too.
heck so does Amazon ($41 With free prime shipping)
Amazon.com

If you aren't against junkyard parts you can pick one up for probably ten bucks after crawling under a junker in the yard. Be forewarned though, sometime in the early to mid 90s (either 94 or 95 comes to mind?) the 8.25" pinion yoke changed length by 1/4". Why? hell if I know, ask Chrysler.
