Broken/cracked exhaust header

I'm tired of welding up my exhaust header cracks. Which CA Compliant headers have you guys installed? APN has a big red box stating that they are not ca approved.

What say you all for a header replacement? Need asap.

what year? i've installed both the renix and HO versions, only difference is the renix version has the EGR deal. the cheapo ebay deal is identical to the APN and the ones i've installed look OEM.

I like the borla and the banks headers, i think both have CA approved versions.

even though this is a CA specific question, you still might get more relevant responses if you try posting in the OEM tech forum.

the newer banks revolver headers hold up very well, and fit nicely.

california legal.

I'm wondering the same thing. What california legal NEW exhaust manifold can I get. The revolver seems too expensive for me, I was hoping for more in the $200 range.

If you find out where to get one, let me know =)

Thanks Souske,

Did you get the $99 or the $174.99 (high quality one) and will I have any issues passing california smog with this one?

I thought I needed a 50 state legal or CARB one. I didn't see any mention of that on the website

I got the cheap version, cash was tight at the time. I figured the original one lasted 20+ years, if i can get that out of the replacement i will be happy.

I have a 96, but have had no issues with smog. Its not like there was any air injection, or preheat hoses, or any nonsense like that. It is pretty much a reproduction of the stock one, with the addition of the bellows on runners #1,6

Im not terribly familiar with the 98s though, so you may want to double check that your stocker doesnt need any special provisions

unless your header screams "hey im modified!" to the smog tech then it shouldnt be a problem. If it is stockish looking like the apn then they wont even notice it.

Sounds good, I think I'll go that route and then practice some cast iron welding on the cracked one and keep that around just in case I piss off a smog tech one day =)

Too bad I don't think fixing a small crack in the exhaust manifold will fix my overheating problem in that other large thread/journal of pain I started, I'm still trying to chase down that stupid gremlin.

Thanks guys
