Boyd Coddington... Dead at 63

I don't know him personally, but he was never a decent person on his show, always beating on his staff and setting ridiculous timelines for them. Then, of course, blowing up when they ran into a problem and may not meet the deadline. Kinda like when you first start wrenching you say something will take an hour that will really take three.
I lived fifteen minutes from his shop in CA for five years and LOVE muscle cars, but never once ventured into his shop as I did not want to see him or meet him....had more interest in the guys in the shop acyually doing the work. I almost feel bad for not really caring that he has passed.

it's hard speculate about the guy, all we ever saw was him being a boss...i'm sure he set rediculous deadlines for his wife to finish the dishes or laundry...

the man was a hot-rodding maestro...at least give him that much

RIP buddy

Boyd and his team did good work, no question about that.

As for his PIA Attitude on the show, I would hope to think it was for our entertainment and not to be taken too seriously, after all it was TV, I maybe mistaken ofcourse!

In any event, RIP, sorry for our loss in the Automotive World...

I'll bet there will be more people at his funeral, than the number of people that even care IF you exist,

Oh good, this is turning really "sixth grade" now....

Agreed

If you judge your life by the number of people at your funeral....who the eff cares, you're still dead.

The last time I was this sad at a celebrity dying...

Some broad named Diana died in a tunnel.

Why oh why is this world so cruel!

Love him or hate him he did amazingly creative things with cars. We can only dream to be as creative as Boyd when it comes to fabbing up and modifing our rigs. His work is copied the world over and he did his own thing and ran his shop his own way. Those that call him names can only dream that someday they can work for a man with the talent and a work ethic that Boyd had to share. The whole auto world suffered a great loss today and that includes us Jeep modifiers. Rest In Peace Boyd Coddington and thanks for all you have done for the world of customizing. soob.

Boyd had a feud going with Chip Foose. And Chip probably thought that Boyd was an ass. But I betcha Chip will be at the funeral to pay his respects.

Boyd and Foose were partners at one time. I'm very sure that Boyd gave Foose his first big break as a wheel designer for Boyds wheels.
