BMRA Issue

I talked with Tom Mitchell, the BMRA President, on Saturday night. He is wanting to make things right with us and refund eveyone that was over paid. So what I need from all of you that attended ROM is to PM me with what you were supposed to be paying for and the amount you really had to pay.

The issue about the "Buy a membership and your gate fees are waived for that weekend" was also discussed with him. He stated it this was:

Say I walk in to the office and say that I want to buy a membership with TMTC. I pay $40 dollars and get into the park for free that weekend. Well TMTC sees $40 from me but BMRA does not.

Then x2elite walks in behind me and says he want to just wheel for the weekend but not buy the membership. So he will pay $40 (old prices) to BMRA and TMTC sees none of that money.

Tom says that pits the two orgs against eacher for funding. I do understand that but what I don't is that Barnwell is a TMTC park. Why doesn't the money get pulled together? I mean the State of Texas granted the money to TMTC to buy Barnwell Mountain and open a park there, or so I have heard/read/been told. I did tell Tom that there is no mention ANYWHERE about this change and he said there should be. But that doesn't change the facts at hand.

I went and talked to the guy in the front as I was leaving about the prices and he said something about here are the prices, but never showed anything to me before trying to change the subject. I then asked something about how it was cheaper for someone with an RV and 4 days than me primitive for 2 nights. At that point he got really defensive and wouldn't answer anything I asked and kept saying that "You were not overcharged." blah blah blah. I told him that I didn't care how much it cost, but it would be nice if there were a board that said how much stuff cost and he started yelling at me so I walked out before he would have gone to the hospital and told him not to worry since I would never be back.

Yeah, when I left there today, I think I was the last one in the whole park to leave. This time they did have some "fliers" printed out with the new pricing on them. A little too late for that. But the whole "Gate Fees not waved for membership" thing was STILL not on there.

This is what I just sent to Tom (BMRA Persident):

I am still not able to find the change in the "Gate fees no longer waved" issue. I have looked here and on the TMTC/BMRA website.

I am still collecting the requested info about how much everyone paid. I have had a few people tell me this was their first and last time ever coming to BMRA due to the gates fees, being over charged and the attitude of Karen and her husband in the office. Some of them were telling me that they got yelled at when they asked about a refund. I know when Karen called me and asked me to call you, she stated "We don't give out refunds and only do what they are told to do (by you guys)." But I know for a fact I have been refunded when bad weather came in and we moved to a hotel instead of camping.

As it stands right now, it looks like we will not be returning to BMRA anytime soon. Not my choice, as BMRA is my park of choice, but my Chapter members REALLY had a bad experance with all of this. Also from what I can tell, we are not the only club that feels this way. I really hope things get worked out and can return to a "normal" state with TMTC and BMRA. Until such time, I feel that BMRA will continue to lose business.

I have told you before that was just how things fell. BMRA was going to be the spot for our big annual run (ROM) due to it's location. As for Hot Springs, the first ROM (and the first run ever) was held at Hot Springs, a 7.5 hour drive for me and my family, but that was too far for too many people. As for the Fall run last year, there was going to be 2 groups going to two different parks. But the only ones that showed up anywhere were 2 people at Hot Springs. I have also said that this fall we will be having a run "in your area", just don't know whcich park just yet.

You say too many parks we chose is too far away from "your area". Well think about me, I have to drive a minium of 4 hours one way to hit a decent wheeling spot, not just some mud hole in the woods. Also think about our members farther north that thinks that K2 or other parks in that area are too far. Some think that BMRA is too far for them as well. I am sorry but we can't please everyone all the time.

Well there is not too much more to chose from. If BMRA or Superlift is too far, then Clayton and Disney will be as well. There is Bridgeport but thats a "day trip" park. Same thing with General Sams and Alto.

That hidden falls place was pretty cool. They said we could make trails pretty much wherever we wanted or widen out trails that already existed. But that was almost a year ago now.

It's ok though.... I got those Barnwell people back.... before I left I took a big dump in this wierd pinkish/purplish/primer colored XJ with red and blue lights on the roof that they had parked near the front office!!!! HAHAHA Take that barnwell MTN!

bs. alto is not a "day park". you cant hit everyone of those trails in a day. hell, i prefer alto over bmra anyways but thats me.
