Natural born US Citizen - as in not "naturalized" - you must be born a citizen of the US and not a citizen of any other country. Ever.

We are talking about the validity of Obama's birth certificate. He never revealed it and therefore may be holding office illegally. The constitution(you have heard of it have you not) specifies he must have been born in the USA. There has always been speculation that he was born in the Philippines. Get it yet jeepcomj???
If you are born to a US citizen then are you not automatically a US citizen?
My wife is German and our son was born a US and German citizen.
I was under the impression that the argument is whether you are considered "Natural Born" if you are born in another country, not whether he is a naturalized citizen or not.
If you are born in a military hospital in a foreign country you are a natural born citizen.
Pretty sure the US does not recognize dual citizenship, the way other countries do. To be a US citizen, you have to denounce your former citizenship....
At least, this is my understanding, being a Security Manager for the USAF and dealing with Secret/Top Secret security clearances every day. You cannot hold a security clearance without starting the process to become a US citizen.....once your enlistment is up, if you have not become a Naturalized US citizen, you cannot re-enlist. We have a case right now with a kid who isn't a US Citizen and they're not granting his clearance until he starts the Naturalization process.
EDIT: I stand corrected. According to the State Dept website, the US does allow for dual citizenship - I guess it's when you go to get a security clearance of some type that they make you denounce other citizenships.....

The south lost the civil war over 140 years ago, but there are still some hanging on to the idea the Confederacy will rise again.
Not sure if that is true....
My g/f was born in S.Korea - dad is US citizen, mom is S.Korean citizen. G/f has naturalization papers....no US birth certificate. She actually lived the first 5 or so years of her life in S.Korea.
Was she born in a military hospital or a Korean hospital? I looked it up on State's web site and there are some rules regarding kids being born to parents where one is a citizen and the other is not. The citizen has to be a a citizen for 5 years and something else. It did say something about having to file paperwork for the citizenship or something.
Coastie, it has nothing to do with the civil war. But if you question Barry what other reason could there be except you're a racist.
I was asking him to draw a line between Obama's birth certificate and the American civil war. How does that make me a racist?
So you do think the south is rising again?

No, it is not necessary to be born on the "soil" here.MY understanding the way The Constitution was written IRT citizenship for eligibility for holding the Office of President was natural born as on the soil, here in the original 13 and then expanded to all 50, except for those grandfathered in due to being alive at the signing in 1787.
Coastie,
You must have just completed that on-line BS training to made the connection. I was NOT referring to race issues. I was inferring some people just don't know when to let it go, it'd over. Another example I use to use at PACAREA with the JOs, "It's like dropping your wallet in a flow of lava, you just got to let it go."
v/r,
Soon to be former ENG4.

I believe it was so that there would be no influenece on our state of affairs from foreign countries.
and not to thread hijack, but that is a problem with illegal immigration and "Anchor babies" they will all be eligible to run for President of the USA with English as their second language.
