READ THIS! IMPORTANT!

THIS IS THE THINLY VEILED BEGINNING OF THE END OF FREE ACCESS TO OUR NATURAL RESOURCES!!!!

THEY DON'T WANT ANY MORE PEOPLE TO WITNESS IT THAN NECESSARY SO THEY DEVISED A SCHEME TO REMOVE PEOPLE FROM THE PROCESS IF THEY DON'T RESPOND TO EVERY MAILING.
IF YOU'RE NOT ON THEIR LIST,GET ON IT. LINKS ARE IN THE ATTACHMENT. FORWARD IT.

LET'S MAKE IT BACKFIRE BY ENLISTING EVERYONE POSSIBLE TO SEND LETTERS AND EMAILS. WE'LL SHOW THEM THAT WHILE GREENIES APPEAR TO HAVE SOME FIGHT IN THEM, THEY'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THE FIGHT WE'RE GOING TO TAKE TO THEM.
THEY HAVE TO LISTEN TO NUMBERS!

Step I: Off Highway Vehicle Route Inventory - Public Review

Dear Interested Party,

The Inyo National Forest has begun its Route Inventory Process. This is Step 1 of the 5 Step Route Designation Strategy being undertaken by all National Forests in the Pacific Southwest Region. Step 1 is the process through which we identify presence or absence of routes. No decisions will be made during this step. To make this process a success, we need your help and participation.

A working inventory of all routes on the Inyo National Forest is available for public review on a free compact disc (CD). The goal is to collect an accurate inventory by checking the mapped routes with what exists on the ground. Volunteers interested in participating in the route review can obtain the CD at the following locations (please call ahead for current hours of operation):

Ø Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center, Lee Vining, CA (760-647-3045)
Ø Mammoth Ranger Station, Mammoth Lakes, CA (760-924-5500)
Ø White Mountain Ranger Station, Bishop, CA (760-873-2500)
Ø Interagency Visitor Center, Lone Pine, CA (760-876-6222)
Ø Inyo National Forest Supervisor’s Office, Bishop, CA (760-873-2400)
Ø Ridgecrest BLM, Ridgecrest, CA (760-384-5400)
Ø Fishlake Valley Public Library, Dyer, NV (775-572-3311)

If you are unable to visit one of these locations, please contact Nancy Erhardt (760-924-5532) and request that a CD be sent to you.

The CD contains all necessary forms and full instructions and information on how to submit your comments.

A set of printed maps of the route inventory will be held for reference at the following locations:

Ø Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center, Lee Vining, CA
Ø Inyo National Forest Supervisor’s Office, Bishop, CA
Ø Ridgecrest BLM, Ridgecrest, CA

Internal Forest Service review will occur simultaneously with the public review, using maps and records during the winter, and conducting field checks when the snow melts in Spring. We encourage you to start reviewing now, using your favorite guidebooks and maps, and begin sending your input to us this winter. In the spring we will begin compiling data and field checking any remaining gaps. Field input must be sent to us no later than July 1, 2005. Please check our website for updates on this and other topics related to this strategy: www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/.

We are currently using a general OHV mailing list of over 500 names and addresses. Please help us reduce this list to a manageable size specific to this project by returning the enclosed card and indicate that you would like to be included on the mailing list for this effort. We are also encouraging the use of email to share information, so please include your email address on the card, or send us an email at [email protected] (put “OHV Route 5” in your email subject line) and request to be included in the OHV Route Inventory process mailing list. If you do not respond, you will remain on our general OHV issues mailing list, but you will not receive future mailings about this effort. If you would like to be removed from the general OHV mailing list, contact Nancy Erhardt at (760) 924-5532 or send an email to the address above.

For more information, contact Sandy Hogan, Special Project Coordinator, Inyo National Forest at [email protected], (760) 924-5505.

Sincerely,

/s/ Jeffrey E. Bailey

Whats the real story to this inventory of trails? They say its to identify all that are open so they can leave them open and all others not on the new list will be shut. IMO , there to lazy to find them all and they want us to do it for them so they can shut down trails they dont know of. Whats really going on? Maybe at least here in Cali Arnie will help us, he on us motorcyclist`s side to start, guess well see.

The way I read this is they have a list of about 500 pro trails people but figure if you do not respond to this then they don't have to inform you of whats going on, which is great for the anti trail people which will really suck for us
