My my, aren't we touchy. If I lived closer I would go there alot too. I enjoyed it, how did that not come across when we wheeled there together?

Great idea.

Would likely show up to one or more event. I've heard there is a good place in MN but have not been there yet. When I get up there if it's any good I'll post info on it.

Could care less what we name it.

There is an awesome place to wheel in MN. Petersens Ultimate adventure stopped by the Iron Range Off-Road park on their 2004 Ultimate Adventure. You can check out their comments in the 2nd part of the article. Or you can check out pictures on NSW 4x4 MN-Jeep . There is something for everyone, mud, rocks, hill-climbs and even rocky hill-climbs. There are trails for stock rigs and rigs on 40's and everything in between. The Third saturday in may the park is open for free, otherwise it is $38.50 for a 3 year pass.

Has anyone considered FlatNasty Offroad Park for an event?

I spoke with the owner yesterday and he mentioned sending an e-mail to someone here about this idea, but never heard anything back.

You should seriously check it out as an option. I guarantee y'all would have a great time there!!!

The owners e-mail address is [email protected] in case anyone needs to contact him. The web site is www.flatnasty.net

Not sure what your definition of the Midwest is but "SAY YA TO THE U.P. EH!"
no parks and miles of open trails, and miles and miles I would join in a run but the CJ is a semi permanent garage ornament which leaves the XJ the daily driver, can't break it acording to the Missus.

Thanks for all the input.
I have info and have sent out feelers to check out a couple sites that are being considered for this years event.

I've gone out with the Mich Tech 4WD club up around Houghton.
Beautiful area.

don;t forget...the idea behind this event is the hardest trails the midwest has to offer....not just hitting every park/location that exists.
In that case, all we need is The Badlands.

I would add Turkey Bay in LBL(W. Kentucky) but I don't think it's hard core enough(for me I love it), although there are some crazy hill climbs I'd love to see people try!

by the way, ill put flat nasty upagainst anything you can find! this is one bad park the trails are rated on body damage not toughness!

I would rate FlatNasty's trails as some of the hardest I have ever seen. There are some obstacles that stop the toughest rigs (including the buggies :) )

I would put it right up there with Badlands...

Just my $.02

OK, here is the plan.
The destination of the inaugural Best of the Midwest Run (tentative name till I can think of a better one) will be: (drum roll please)

The dates are June 2-4.

This is officially an unofficial naxja run.
Details, including cost, lodging, etc will come as I get them.

If anyone would be willing to help put this together, particularly those familliar with the park and/or area, please PM or email me:

I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with the owner, Ron Maximoff (Incidently, a week after talking to him I saw his rig while paging through an old Peterson's).
He is a rockcrawl competitor so obviously there are lots of rock sections but, with 800 acres, he assured me there is plenty for all build levels.
