BEHOLD!!! something built 20 years ago that puts us to shame

that was cool thanks for posting.

But after all that it only runs 14.4? Looks like you would spend as much or more as dropping in a chevy LSx for more power and probably less weight.

yea, but they did not have any sort of LSX platform 20 years ago...

today it applies though.

is that the same truck as the yellow one on the hesco website under readers rides

I didn't remember that Hesco had a truck like that until now.. comparing the two it has to be Hesco's yellow truck.

You sure? I was thinking it may be, but wasn't sure so I didn't say anything...

I've been wondering that for a few years now too.

why did they paint a perfectly good truck yellow? ugh!!!

Been wondering the same since I discovered they had it:doh:

See my last post:wave:

oh I know, and it IS cool. And it'd be retarded for Jeep to promote performance by saying "drop in a chevy!"

Why not drop in a third gen Hemi then:D

Well... the sc's not intercooled, and the truck probably isn't regeared (I bet it doesn't have a LSD either). Also, I'm sure it would run a heckovallot quicker if it had a modern piggy-back system. There's lots of room to play-around/improve with that set-up.

Yup, could be interesting to see how a modern version of this truck perform.

want

 comes to mind!

That was what I first thought as well. The RENIX-era 242ci is the only production engine I've heard of that can go past +.060" - this isn't the first.

I'd first heard of it from Mike Parrish (FMR Accurate Power) - and talked with him at length about it. He told me that pretty much any RENIX block that did not have significant core shift should be able to take that much bore - ultrasonic checking is necessary, but if it passes that it should be fine. Even with moderate levels of boost (3/4-1 ATM or so...)

Because it belongs to Hesco, they made it, and they can paint it yellow if they like.. For those not in the know, Hurley Engine Service Corporation= Hesco, Lee Hurley is HESCO. And why not a Hemi? because it is an overrated pile.

They could also paint it pink with an airbrushed portrait of Def Leopard on the hood.
My point is yellow is a poor color choice for something this awesome (with so much history behind it).

I would stick with a dark gray metallic, a satin black, or anything that reminds us less of French's Mustard,
and more of imminent ass-kickery.

I thought yellow was a "mark" of Hesco or something? Maybe I'm just insane and think Hesco goes well with yellow... or maybe now? haha

Also, how much of a sleeper do you think that thing is, painted yellow and all? Who would suspect what it can do when it's just a lowered yellow MJ? Ha...

If yellow is Hesco's color than yellow logos would probably suffice.

Sleepers seldom fit inline with any companies marketing scheme (generally they want something flashy to promote their brand). I just think that-that truck is a bit too flashy. People would take it more seriously with a different color scheme. This thing has a pretty cool history, and that color just seems to cover it (yellow isn't as 'mean' as it used to be back in the day when it was more commonplace on sports cars).

Im not sure how much of a sleeper its supposed to be next to some other builds HESCO has contributed to in the last 22 yrs. But then again, have you ever seen a yellow Ferrari 360? Yeah, me neither.
