Back from Rubicon and Barrett Lake

A group of us had an ambitious plan to run Rubicon, Barrett Lake and Barney Riley trails in 4 days. My XJ with 6” lift and 33’s was the wimpiest rig of our group, with most running 37-38 inch tires and one competition buggy on 46’s

Unfortunately, trail breakage got in the way of our plans and we didn’t have time for the Barney-Riley Trail and its hot tub. On Barrett, I got a trick new Hi-Lift tie rod when mine decided to pretzel as I dropped off a boulder at the first tough obstacle

All in all, it was a great time with a good bunch of friends and it’s got me thinking about what mods I need to run 37 inch MTR’s on my XJ.

Here are a few quick pics

Dana 60 front and a 60 or 14 bolt rear........

35's work just fine and don't need such big axles, unless you need to keep up with the buds.

Glad to hear you had a great time up there. I haven't been on Barrett for a few years and I miss running it, that's a great camp spot at the end by the lake.
