AW4 Transmission snake oil additives

Planning to drain some old fluid from my 87, the one that slips at cold winter start ups. Will top off with fresh fluid. Planning on using the dip stick and a pump to suck old fluid out instead of messing with pan and gasket. Will try that for a week then try adding some Trans-X next if the slipping remains with no other changes.

I found real Dexron I- II-III at Autozone made by Coastal! Seems they still make it!!!!!!

An update -- now in the cold, the Merc V is still working fine. I also found Merc/Dex III Valvoline at Advance.

I have been doing Dex III transfusions on both 87 and 89. The 89 seems to be OK, but it still hunts between 3rd and 4th (or locked-unlocked) at about 35 mph in D. It does not hunt with shifter in 3 (3rd), so I am guessing it may be a TPS sensitivity issue there. The 87 seems to be going into first faster when cold, but I have only done one 3 quart transfusion swap. Doing another today.
