AW4 In Post '93 ZJ's

Just wondering if anybody has tried this, I've been told Chrysler built them this way in '93 and decided to swap over to 46RE from '94 on. Reason I'm asking is a friend of a co-worker is on his way to killing his second ZJ trans in his '98 ZJ. I'm not too sure if the AW4 can stand up to his abuse, but it's got to better than the 46RE. Any ideas?

It will probably be a big electrical project, as the 46RE most likely uses a different tranny computer and wiring. The AW4 would be a great choice though, they are as close to bulletproof as auto-trannies get.

Thanks for the quick response Brett! Those were my thoughts for the swap too, I'm just not too sure it'll live up to this kid's family, his brother managed to kill a 4.0l in his '95 ZJ and he's already put a hurt on him Mom's WJ :hang:
