Hey everyone, I checked out 2 local fab shops for some work I need done today. 1 was Blacksheep & the other Addictive Koncepts. I got 2 prices but was wondering if anyones used either shop before & if so what do you have to say?

I need my stiffeners & a crossmember made up. Blacksheep was cheaper, AK took me in, showed me the whole shop & gave me some ideas showing me as he went along. Blacksheep, just kinda talked to me and that was that. Blacksheep had a white Xj out front, AK had a Xj stripped out that he was building, he had his own custom arns, track bar & bracket & brace ect ect alot of HIS own work on it. He's also building a jeepspeed and had tons of pictures to show on that.
What do you guys have to say about either shop? Currently I'm only doing middle stiffeners & the crossmember, but will go back for front & rear plating late December or early January & eventually a simple cage for my jeep!

Hi desertjr,

The Company you've mentioned has no affiliation with the "blacksheepcrew" here at NAXJA.
There are 2 companies out there with that name, one in the UK (building Land Rovers), the other (building parts for Toyotas).

Are you thinking of BLACKSTONE jeep in thousand palms?( I think thats it's name) If so he is a good shop to have work done by.
I live in the low desert myself.

No Blacksheep offroad is Located in Hesperia. As well as Addictive Koncepts.

I figured theres a few blacksheeps. 1 in the Uk that does do the rovers. And the 2 which appear to be brother/sister companies. 1 is located in Hesperia & the other in Georgetown.

The guys name in Hesperia is Frank C. The font on the card makes it damn near impossible to rear the name lol.

Over at Addictive Koncepts, the names of the people are Dan & Kim Larson. They are either getting into/just starting jeepspeed or was in it & building a new rig.

Basically I need my unibody braced front to rear & a cross member & a cage over the next year..nothing needs to be jeepspeed spec. Its there to stiffen & protect, not race! I'm trying to figure out who to go with.

Maybe you guys can suggest what I should do..but so far I've got 3/16" ruff stuff stiffeners for the middle. They are a little thicker & heavier than i wanted but no big deal.
I figured I could do Liquid Engineering front & rear plates in 1/8" thickness & also plate the inner unirails from the front crossmember to the firewall in 12 gauge or so to keep weight down.
After that TMR chassis braces & a cage. It won't ever race but I want it to be stout & I know after wheeling over time things start to weaken.

Sound about right?

And sorry for so many questions..but my Ruff Stuff stiffeners have the 9" section that goes right where the factory lower control arm mount is. I can either cut that off or cut the factory mounts off..I'd prefer to cut off the control arm mounts.
My question is can I move the lower mount back & lower just a little while leaving the factory upper mount? Will that mess with angles to much or anything & cause weird handling effects? I have adjustable upper & lowers but I don't wanna knock anything out of wack. I'm only at 3" or so & will ALWAYS remain that high!

Heres my idea. Cut off the lower mount & weld the stiffener on. Then weld on the lower mount but move it down & back a little..sorta like drop brackets but only moving the lower & leaving the upper in the factory location. I'm thinking that'll help with flex & maybe ride? But will it cause any negatives like weird hanlding characteristics?
Heres what Goatman did on his..I figured I could do something similar while leaving the factory upper mount?

Look up leadfoot off road Josh does good work, very fair in pricing and has an XJ even.

Will look into that, but is he local? My jeep will be getting towed behind another jeep & it doesn't feel very "safe". I'd love to have alot of the Low desert guys work on my rig but they are just too far & no way to get it there lol.
