anyone down for group buy on some tubing?

i am thinking we can get some 1.5" .120 DOM for 2.75$/ft or less.
(maybe even some 2" .120 too???)


im down for at least 100 feet

jeeper 450 in dublin said he'd be down for 100 feet most likely.

theres a spot in milpitas that is at 3$/ft for over 100ft and will go down less -20$ delivery there too.

team tube can do 3.50ft for under 100ft so they can probably do 3$ a foot as well if we get a amount.

just throwing the feelers out there. it would be awesome to get it down to under 2.50 a foot or less if we get enough guys....

Tube service milpitas went from $6.75/ft for one stick of 1.5 .120 DOM to $3.01/ft for 100 feet. I'll call tomorrow for a quote for 200ft of the same DOM just to get a ballpark idea.

They sell box tube for rocker replacements and such.

im talking about a full interior cage, starting with 100ft, prob end up buying another 100 ft or more once i get phase one done....

the gas it would take me to get to san jose to pick up the tube wont be worth it for me i dont think, since i can get it here for 3.50 at 100ft,
maybe we culd set up a bay area group buy and a sacto group buy?

I need some square tube for that rack. Don't know what size or thickness I want. Maybe 1" and pretty thin, I would like to keep it lite weight.

Not sure on length either, maybe 30 to 50 feet?

i dont think you would need that much tube for a rear rack, i think youd want like 20 feet .

Yeah I need to measure but your right. I can use 3/4" to span the bottom to make the floor. I am not sure how many slats I need for the floor, that is where I was eating up a lot of tube in my guesstimate.

Maybe I should use and expanded metal sheet? That would work better for when I put the dogs up there.

Just called again.

200' (10 sticks) 1.5" .120 wall DOM - $2.59/ft
200' 1.5" .120 wall DOM with purchase of 20' 2" .25 wall (1 stick) - $2.55/ft

20' 2" .25 wall DOM by itself - $6.56/ft
20' 2" .25 wall DOM added on to the 200ft above - $3.91/ft

From what the guy told me, you can only purchase by the stick, no less. Each stick can vary +/- a foot or three from 20 feet, so there is no guarantee that we will get exactly 200 ft. The price will reflect the exact amount of tube we purchase.

They can ship anywhere in the bay area for a flat rate of $20. There is no limit to the amount of people they ship to.

The only problem is that everything needs to be charged on one card, which I personally will be unable to do.

i think i will try to do 120 ft (+-)

i need to find a back up tubing bender in case my buddy dave flakes on letting me use his...

i think 100ft is a great starting point. you can get alot done with that, but it wont do it all. most likely another 60-100 ft after that, but it will take a while (and money) to bend up 100 ft and install it all...

I might bump up to 120 ft. Ill try pulling the jeep in the garage tonight to measure for my hybrid cage and finishing my bumper.

Ok, I just called again. There was some confusion yesterday. He quoted me for 20ft of 2" .120 wall DOM, instead of 2" .25 wall.

Heres the updated prices if purchased together.

1.5" .120 DOM - 240 ft (120 for me, 120 for Jon) - $2.53/ft - Thats about the rock bottom price for that tube. It wont drop much more, if at all.

1 5/8" .120 DOM - 100 ft - $3.22/ft

2" .25 (not .120) DOM - 20 ft - 6.79/ft - He said the sticks he has are closer to 15 ft in length.

Thats it for now... I bumped up to 120 (for now) thinking I might as well buy more when its cheap, than buy too little and get jipped when I need to buy a single stick for $150 haha.
