just wondering if anyone has been near boards crossing trail (also called pine needle flat trail) by dorrington?
just wanted something easy to run to maybe do some camping this weekend or next.
im specifically wondering if anyone has gone through the main water crossing?
curious how high and nasty it is or if its normal ?
i highly doubt its normal for this time of year...

it should be ok now actually, it hasnt been warm enough for the pack to really release its water yet. Pack usually compacts to half its size or something before it really starts to let the water out, and considering it snowed in tahoe again last weekend, I dont think its ready to let it go just yet

We camped at Boards Crossing on May 20th to check it out. The trail is clear, downed trees were winched out of the way. No snow on the ground, campsites are pretty dry. The main water crossing is very deep but no problems for 31's or taller. A guy on 32's in his TJ without floor plugs had very wet carpet by the time he was through.

good to know guys. yah we are bringing an xj on 31s but he is locked front and rear, he was worried abotu hydrolock with no snorkel...

this weekend last year there was snow on the ground when we went (june 4th weekend..)

There is tons of snow a few miles up Hwy 4 (7N68?) and on the side of Boards Crossing road, but the trail was completely snow-free. The river is deep (maybe 28-30" depending on how the rocks shift) but no worry about hydrolock. I'll post some pics in a bit.

slick rock was still closed around this time last year...

3 weeks ago there was still 5-6 foot drifts at the 5200 ft elevation. I would bet that Corral Hollow is still really deep.

One of the Clubs I belong to has Slickrock as our 'Adopted Trail'.
Last weekend there was still plenty of snow on HiWay 4 side.
The Forest Service will begin plowing to Spicer Lake today, June 13.
The FS believes it will take about a week.
We are not planning to 'Open' Slickrock until July 2nd weekend.
Last year we opened Slickrock on June 25 and we towed out a water crossing hydro-locked lifted TJ.
It is going to be a late year, but will be a good year for photography.

We where up at slick rock two weeks ago. LOTS of snow, cant even see the trail head. Snow was up to the roof lines of the bathrooms at Utica campground. Spicer rd was covered from 2 to 4 feet all the way in. Utica was still completely frozen over.

july 2nd could work out if the con doesnt...

any other trails in the highway 4 area that anyone know about? specifically lower elevation like boards area?
that is , other than slick rock, deer valley , corral hollow, and pine needle flat (boards crossing is super short/easy anyway...) ?
i want to head up that area soon and do more than just boards, maybe even some cool camping and fire roads?
i need to follow my topo maps around and go scouting...
