anybody run pro-comp X terrains?

I have the x-terrains and i like them. But they seem to be really soft. I have a few small chunks missing but nothing too bad. I've only had them since august so i dont know how well they wear.

I like 'em a lot. had 'em in 33's and now on the 35's. They grip very well on slickrock, and the wear is decent, as well.
 
^^^^^agreed except on the wear part. my first set of 33s i had lasted my 40K miles. i was very impressed. I love these tires. They do extremely well in mud, climbing rocks, they disperse water well, they clean themselves very well, and their grip is unheard of. I have since upgraded to 35s and my 2nd set of 33s are for sale as we speak. I had a set of 36" Iroks and had them on for about a week and took them right back off and sold em because they didn't do well on the street at all and didn't even come close to be anywhere near competitive to the XTs off-road.
 
i had a set of 35's, i lost alot of lugs because they are pretty soft

as far as mud goes sometimes i had trouble backing out because they are directional
 
Thanks for your responses guys. I just got some 35" that are at about 40% for a good price and I haven't wheeled then yet on the Con or Fordyce. I previously had a set of 35" mtrs and loved them, except in the mud where they filled up really bad. Can anyone compare these X terrains to mtrs?

i havent had MT/Rs before but I have a friend that has a rig identical to mine and everytime we decide to go muddin he always seems to get stuck. Even thought he XTs are directional they are still great in the mud. I have never had a problem and I have been in some sticky shit.

As everyone has stated, MT/R's suck in the mud (I concur from my limited experience). But as I was informed, we need to keep in mind that the MT/R ISNT a mud tire, i dont beleive it was designed to be one.

Now back on topic... XTerrains... hmmm... Never seen em in action cept for a few Comps...

Yeah, I think the directional thing on the X's really help it in mud and to be a good digger like the Baja Claws. My bro has 35" BC on his XJ but we haven't got it all together to wheel it yet. The X's and Baja's both have similar directional v patterns for digging. I need them mostly for the rock crawling stuff like the Rubicon and for the snow in the winter and mud/clay gooy crap in the off-road parks like Hollister Hills and Prairie City here in Northern Cali.

Have them....Hate them...Never ever own another set. Funny the different experince people have with stuff. The noise has been awful.The wear has been awful. I have one that needed over a pound of weight to balance so I don't even try. They pull hard to one side if I have a certian one up front so I can't rotate them. Pretty much hate them. Going back to BFG M/Ts as soon as I can afford it. I have never ever had any problems with them(ok waiting for everyone to tell me how they hate BFGs :D )

BFG's suck!!! No really they are o.k., especially the new KM with the sidewall lugs, but I really liked my mtrs. I put my 35" mtrs on my 94' Wrangler when I traded for a 85' CJ7 buggy on 37" mtrs and full width axles. I mounted the X's but haven't run them yet.
 
have you ever compared the 2 side by side DR. moab. I ran both BFG 33MTs and 33" XT in moab in the rain. I noticed the XT's didnt slip as much I can tell you that i hate my bfgs. I had a set of procomp MTs last 3 years then went to a set of bfgs. Now i cant even hear my self think when i drive on the freeway oh and they need to be replaced when not even a year old.

As far as a directional tire goes, its never going to get as good as traction when in reverse. Everyone has their prefrence and driving style, and type of commuite. Find someone that has the tires and see if they will let you go for a ride, thats the only way YOU can tell whats best for yourself.
 
Only saw 2 out of about 10 Jeeps make it up slickrock at Tellico this weekend...it was pretty wet. One had Krawlers, the other had X-terrains and all were similarly built (close in tire size, 2 lockers, etc). That doesn't really show anything, but we were impressed with how well they gripped the rock.
 
Thanks for all your testimonials guys. I got some used X-terrains after I had to put my 35" mtrs on another vehicle when I traded it to someone. I haven't wheeled the Xt's yet, but I'm confident now I will not be disappointed. I did like the mtrs alot though to on the Rubicon and Fordyce here in Nor Cal.

I've got baja claws on my jeep and love them. Never will own another brand. Don't know comparable the x terrians are the directional tread seems similar. The claws are great in everthing;mud, sand, rock, rain, snow. As for the noise, most of my highway driving is done with my wife so not being able to hear is a definite plus.
