The only reason I asked is because I wanted to know if you needed volunteers. I have been to Winterfest every year since I joined

. To me Winterfest has always been about wheeling with the Midwest group in inclimate conditions. Yes that means freezing your arse off. We all wheel all over the place all summer but Winterfest gives us a reason to wheel when usually we'd be trying our best to stay warm. Sort of an irrational wheeling trip. Gives us a reason to get off our fat buts and do some wheeling in the dead of winter. Funny thing is if the weather is rather warm and dry people are rather disappointed.
Winterfest has always been at Attica, not the greatest wheeling spot in the world but plenty of fun for everyone for a short weekend wheeling trip. It's definitely not a spot that would attract people from all over the US, but IMHO that has never been the point. For me OK or even KY will be a 10 to 12 hour drive, not exactly a central MW local if you ask me. Winterfest has always been a "local" weekend event, not a "national" event, and I personally think it should remain that way. The MWC can hold a national event at another time during the year. Something a little further south as is being planned for Winterfest. I can say that if Winterfest is held as far south as is being talked about I likely will not be able to make it. This alone may be enough reason to hold it in the south

. But I truly think Winterfest is much more about tradition, braving tough weather, and socializing, that a great wheeling location. I also think we should worry more about keeping it accessible to MW people than attracting people from other chapters. We can have a new event for the purpose of attracting others.
I know that this is not a "democracy" but the people who have been put in charge of making these decisions should have the chance to hear from the people they represent, and also the people who have been to Winterfest year after year.
