Any GM techs on here?

Ok, I realize this is more 'other tech' than off topic, but I thought I'd have a better chance of possibly getting an answer here since the Other tech forum isn't too active. Here goes: I'm doing some work on a friend's car while he's away. It's a 99 Grand Am 2.4L, Auto(4t40 I believe)

Among the things that I'm to do is to change the transmission fluid and filter. I know there's no actual dipstick to check or add fluid since it's supposedly a "sealed unit." But, as I understand it, there is a fill plug somewhere on the tranny to put fluid in. Can anybody tell me where it is?

I'd appreciate any help here! I don't really like the idea of "lifetime transmission fluid".....

Well other forum isn't too active cause people post in wrong forums cause the other forum isn't too active. Catch 22.....

You know you would have better luck on a GM forum, but anyway, there is a fill plug on the RH side near the half shaft. It's like a Jeep T-case fill, pump until it starts dripping out, then cap it. The plug may or may not have a red cap on it, I've seen both.

Eh, sorry guys. I'd searched through about half a dozen GM tech forums last night, and I wasn't finding anything that I needed. All I could find is that there was a fill plug 'somewhere' but no one ever said where.(Maybe I just wasn't using the right search terms, I dunno) I thought I'd take a chance throwing this in OT and seeing if I could get an answer. I'd had luck in the past getting an answer that way on that 'other' big Jeep forum, but I guess they like to keep it a little 'cleaner' around here.

Beav: Thanks for the answer, now I'll have someplace to look

Once again, I appologize; it won't happen again. :)
