Another Temp Panel bulb question

I've had the entire dash ripped apart for some time now, in my 1988 XJ. Is there a bulb or a lighting unit on these older ones for the temperature panel, and if so which one? Am I missing something obvious, because mine is pitch black and I can't tell if I'm frying my feet or freezing to death until it hits me! Thanks!

Are you talking about the climate control module for the heater, AC, etc? That thing does have a bezel light. It's a tiny light bulb pigtail coming off a harness that snaps into the back of the control's bezel. It has a tendency to vibrate itself loose. Mine is pitch black right now too. I gotta get back in the dash and snap it back into place. This time I may RTV the sucker to the module.

Going from memory, the light is in a small hole on the side farthest away from the fan knob. It normally has two tiny plastic ears to hold it in place, but like all good tiny plastic pieces they have about as much tensile strength as a soap bubble. It should be a T72 (maybe a T74...it's one of those Soviet tanks) in there.

Thanks guys, I managed to find a picture of teh back of the panel and saw the hole you guys are talking about. I guess it's time to do some digging back there. It seems that a bunch of my little eared friends are broken.

slap the panel or tap hard with your fingertips. Works for me 99% of the time the lights go out. Happened the other day with that same bulb. I've considered picking up some 12v LED's and wiring them in instead. Last longer and more durable.

Thanks guys I installed one and I was lucky enough that this light clip didn't have it's wings clipped! The clock even decided to work with the other bulb! BONUS! Thanks all again!
